Kiwis are gone, and both England and Pakistan are one slip up away from elimination.

Actually I’ve just noticed that Pak will be out if Ireland fail to defeat the USA. A washout would do it …

Re: T20 World Cup
Farcical how many foreigners represent NL and USA. Defeats the purpose
The former's a team that's not progressed for 3 decades and have made it near impossible for any teams to get ahead as well. And the Netherlands will never progress as any player better than that would have legitimate chances to play for NZ/SA.
Afghanistan being as strong as they were/are are the only side that have broken that rigid ceiling set by player imports.

Re: T20 World Cup
In a World Cup they should have reserve days to try and stop washouts
Its a joke
the teams are having multiple days between games ....come back and play the next day (and its T20 so you can easily have a double header )

Low scoring tournament. Uganda bowled out for forty by the kiwis and SA just sneak home defending only 115. Games in yankland especially low scoring.

Aussies chasing 182 to defeat the Scotch team. At one point three catches went down in three balls.

Re: T20 World Cup
182 v Australia is a pretty good effort for a school team.....would that be Jeff K's old alma mater, or the Perth equivalent?

So much for talk about "throwing" the game.

Fortch the Groin and Trav smashed 80 in 7 overs from a shaky 3-60 (NoShow failed again - missing a straight break) to get us back on track.
Bison is well overdue for a score as well.

Aside from nepotism, is there a reason for Marsh being captain.

Looking at the scorecards, it seems Stoinis has taken Maxwell’s spot, and Maxwell might be done in all forms.

Maxwell is defacto 2nd spinner.

I'd like to think we can beat Bangladesh and Afghanistan to make the semis.

Good that Ferguson got a 4-4-0-3 spell. At least the record for most economical can't be broken by some Samoan playing against a bunch of beached dolphins.

Re: T20 World Cup
It's been a really interesting tournament so far, other than the weather depriving Pakistan of a pretty certain place in the last 8. This format of the game does, whether the anoraks like to admit it or not, provide a lot of entertainment for millions of cricket fans, backed up by the numbers either going or paying to watch, especially the Indian T20, as well as others like the Aussie version. It's here to stay and can be watched by infinitely more people in reality than the version that takes 5 days of 7 and often more hours. Of course tests will always be the real thing in many ways, but i don't write off the shorter forms of the game as a small number of people do so often.
The business end of the competition starts now. I see Australia, South Africa, India as certs. for the semis plus one other. England will not make it as they are far too short on dependable runs scorers up front. The tail looks very very long.

Re: T20 World Cup
Yes the tournament has been entertaining. Aided by terrible pitches like NY.
Pakistan needed Ireland to beat the US to get into the next stage. Nothing was certain about their progress. They brought it on themselves, and seeing how the last over against the US went and who bowled the super over, fixing would not be a surprise.
Had England got eliminated that would've been a bit unlucky. Also, England need to move past their 2019 squad. More past it than the Expendables cast. Jordan, Bairstow and Ali are quite shit (Jordan and Ali always have been tbf), and Livingston can do a lot of things poorly.
