Fidel Edwards has spinal surgery, out for 1 year
Cozier article
Experts are unsure whether he will be able to bowl at full pace ever again, he may have to try and do a Lillee or a Corey Collymore who remodelled his action completely and changed his bowling style.
I guess it was bound to happen with that ferocious bowling action combined with the fact that he is such a small guy. More bad news for pace like fiyah fans and it means we will have to rethink our pace bowling strategy for the next test series against South Africa.

Bad news WIFAN; From the story, I assume that the WICB picks up the tab for his rehab?

I think so but they refused to give him a central contract as he aggravated the injury playing for Deccan Chargers after playing despite the WICB doctor advising him to rest his previous back injury.

This is a HUGE blow for not just WI cricket but international cricket in general because Castro was arguably THE most exciting cricketer on the planet.

Actually WI fan, I posted this several days ago; we do take an interest in Caribbean cricket. He will be missed as the Windies seemed to be assembling a threatening pace attack with the arrival of Roach on the international scene.

he had a small frame and he tried to generate unnatural pace. When they showed TV closeups of his landing and his delivery stride, it showed body contortion of considerable magnitude. And excessive stress on the back, knees and ankles esp when he stretched himself weirdly at delivery.
It was good while it lasted.

Sad news, just as he was looking to really kick on in his career too.
