How come he hasn't gotten 200 test wickets yet?
He's had enough time. Drop him from the side.

Far and away the best fast bowler in world cricket, despite what Ricky Ponting says.

That Johnson and Siddle are better than Steyn and Morkel.

Siddle is better than Morkel imo.
Shock, horror.
Steyn is the best out of the four mentioned.

If you asked batsmen who they would rather face, i guarantee you 90% would say Siddle.

Siddle would be happy to accept all challengers.

That's about right, although 2 and 3 are pretty evenly matched to be fair.

Ponting said Oz had 'the best group of fast bowlers in the world' ...Did he Steyn wasn't the best fast bowler?
"I think the depth that we've got now as far as our fast-bowling goes is outstanding," Ponting said ahead of the first ODI against West Indies. "It would have to be the best group of fast bowlers anywhere in the world right at the moment. We were most stretched in India in the one-day series we had over there a few months ago and we had probably five or six of our guys injured and back in Australia but ... the depth is terrific."

C'mon embee, don't try and reason with Trev, or use facts. His anti-Australianism is only rivalled in depth by Bucky's.
The difference is of course that Bucky is a lunatic in addition to hating Australia, whereas Trev tries to sound reasonable.

Ponting was basing his assesment on a few JAMODI's. FACT- Australia lost to India away and South Africa at home. FACT- Australia lost the ashes.

He's basing it on the number of injuries that Oz fast bowlers have had since the Ashes and how the replacements keep popping up and doing the job ...
It's 15 months-ish since we lost in India ...and at the vital point in the series Punter chose to bowl Mike Hussey rather than a fast bowler to solve his over rate problem ...we can blame the fast bowlers for bowling their overs slowly
Last summer when we lost to the Saffies at home it may be blameable on the bowlers ...an inability to defend over 400 in Perth and an inability to get Steyn out in Melbourne ...then they turned it around in South Africa
We lost the Ashes ...due to an inability to get Panesar out at Cardiff when they had to bowl North at the end because of the light and two batting collapses at Lords and the Oval ...

Re: Steyn - on 193 in his 37th test
Ricky just got confused because having 5 or 6 bowlers of similar ability gives the impression of depth.
Doesn't mean much if they are 6 Dave Gilberts
Having said that, I feel better about our fast bowling stocks now then I did 12 months ago

Yeah, look at the quality of opposition you've played since the ashes.

And your FACTs, the loss against South Africa at home was followed by a win against South Africa away. Which was before the Ashes, incidentally.Henry wrote:Zat wrote:Wot embee said. Yeah, look at the quality of opposition you've played since the ashes.
There was the ODI series win in England, that was a close one though wasn't it? 6-1? That was after the Ashes.
Then there was the OD series in India. Which Australia won 4-2. And with several front-line bowlers going down injured, the replacements came up trumps.
And sure, the opposition this summer has been pretty weak, but you can only play who you play. And the bowlers have done what they had to do.
So what's really wrong, Lemmiwinks? Have you gone back to your old beat in Darlinghurst and discovered that a bunch of younger boys have taken all your old clients? No wonder you're feeling so bitter towards Australia.

Trev, you utter dickhead, Punter was talking about ODIs and since the ashes Oz have won 6-1 in England, gone through the CCCT in South Africa undefeated, beat India 4-2 in India and Pakistan 5-0 in Oz . . . surely Punter has the right to think the ODI bowling squad is pretty much top of the tree?
