Re: WTF - festive MCC
I would have thought that the whole problem is that the light coloured balls (whether they be white, pink, biege or lemon) pick up dirt and become hard to see. The dark red ball doesn't suffer that problem (but is obviously unsuitable under lights).

Actually MB, I was rather expecting a "skully in finding story about pink balls shock" retort from the West or Wagga.

Here's a better article about it
I love where it says
Sounds like Trev made a flying visit to the old country.
And how about this gem
I love where it says
MCC’s cricket committee, which met last week, expressed its enthusiasm for pink balls
Sounds like Trev made a flying visit to the old country.
And how about this gem
Blue balls and women didn't want to play with them. Sounds like most blokes' teen angst years, or RD's life story.A blue ball was once designed for women’s cricket, but was discontinued.

Unfortunately it seems that this idea might ruin a bloody good fundraising idea.

Had they had a decent player sign one, I would've got one for Mrs Zat for Christmas.

Yeah, my 40-something brother got a band of young misfits together to play some lower-Grade stuff in the past 2 seasons and he couldn't believe how much the opposition sledged the fark out of him while he was batting. Mebee we played in more gentle times.

There's a lot of women play cricket in the Netherlands. But being a small country their grounds would be on reclaimed soil. Possibly surrounded by dykes.embee wrote:Surprisingly womens cricket is played on turf ...as Ive heard a few of the girls say they really like to go to work on the carpet

Re: WTF - festive MCC
Did they have the visibility issues (fading colour, picking up dirt etc) with the orange balls that were trialled in day/night Shield games? Main complaint seemed to be they swung too much. Can't recall if there was an issue with the batsman seeing the seam though.
