Re: Indian squad for Asia cup
If the biggest talking point Indian team to be selected today is the availability of a certain Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar then it not only says something about man's towering presence in Indian cricket even after playing for close to 21 years, it also says a lot about of lack of viable alternatives we've in his absence.
Sad sad reality of Indian cricket.
We've absolutely sh!t bench strength, not just in bowling but in batting as well.

tendulkar should play. its only 4 matches, its an asia cup not a zim series and it will enable him to get some practice in before the tests. its been over a month since the ipl ended so he would have had his rest
he should probably skip the tri-series with nz after the tests

Ideally, he should play. Not sure finger injury he picked up during IPL has healed fully or not. He was seen practicing at BKC about a week back but not practicing since which probably may have fuelled the rumours of him not being available for the Asia cup.
BTW, its been a while to have seen him representing India since THAT 200*. Can't wait him to don India colors again.

Re: Indian squad for Asia cup
Another meaningless tournament. The need of the hour is to clean up the stench that is coming our of BCCI / Powar / IPL and the lot.
However BCCI know that the fans can be taken for granted on the back of their favourite players i.e. get my man in that is all that matters to me the rest of the rubbish is really is not my priority.
I hope that the selectors have the guts to drop the fat / unfit players and not keep pandering to the zonal / fan / sponsor pressures.

Do Ind play SL in a bilateral ODI series as well?
If thats the case then people in SLC should be shot.

Was just going to say getting sick of SL.
The viable replacements are all playing in England for the A team. Noticed yesterday how much better our A team is to the clowns that were in Zim.

Yuvraj dropped. He'll either pull his finger out and start working really hard, or he'll put two fingers up at the Indian team and become a freelance T20 player.
Saurabh Tiwary receives his first call up to the Indian team. He looked pretty decent when I saw him in the IPL.

Re: Indian squad for Asia cup
yuvraj has been pretty poor at t20s save for the first world cup, so i wouldnt try and depend on that for income. if he is not in the indian team his market value will plummet

Dinda and Jadeja have been picked and the middle order is flimsy except for Dhoni. Expecting more carnage.

Finally two of the fatties are out. Good to hear the chairman of selectors put the emphasis on fitness and fielding in no uncertain terms.

Good to see that Yusuf FTB Pathan and Useless Karthik are out.
It would've been better had Jadeja too been booted out. He simply doesn't belong to this level. Now that he is in the team I expect Ojha not to be played at all in this tourney.

So what will be the excuse for getting knocked out early this time, SG?

Re: Indian squad for Asia cup
Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj isn't happy with Yuvraj's exclusion from the team.
Yograj Singh is upset over his son Yuvraj being axed from the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Correspondents from television and print media got a taste of his ire when they landed up at his residence in Chandigarh on Monday evening for his reaction on the non-inclusion of the flambouyant all-rounder in the side.
The former India cricketer -- he played one Test and six ODIs -- hurled the choicest of Punjabi abuses at the journos and threatened to beat them up, forcing them to retreat.
So, really its all the fault of his father that Yuvraj, despite all the right noises being made about him when he first stepped onto int'l scene, he couldn't cement his place in the Indian team in either form of the game.
Not even his staunchest supporters would debate that Yuvraj needed to be dropped from the Indian squad. He hardly had any form or fitness for past 1 year or so.
Looks like his father is his biggest enemy. Instead of asking him to work even harder to make the team in the WC year, he is doing this. Well done. Kudos to Yuvraj to come up this far despite putting up with such a father.

Whatever, embee.
Its pretty clear that he is UPSET at his son being left out of Indian squad. Any father would. But it wasn't his first such offence. He is a serial culprit in parading his son's cause in the media.
