Indian squad for the WI tour
Indian Squad:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Capt), Yuvraj Singh (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Yusuf Pathan, Murali Vijay, S Badrinath, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Kartik.
Pffft. Yuvraj as vice (Yuvraj in vice would be more like it) – a disaster waiting to happen. Nayar and Nehra are good choices, so too M. Vijay. India will need good pullers and hookers (!!) after the T20. But I don’t think the pitches will offer the same bounce as Lords did.

Absolutely no reason for Ishant to be on this 'tour'. Rest him for motherflunking sake.

What is this about? Is India playing another T20 series in WI?

It's a ODI series that was arranged after we agreed to tour India in 2006 I think. Neither side really needs this tbh, we have a test series against Bangladesh straight after these ODI's and then we will be touring Australia a month or so later.
I think Gayle may well choose to have his surgery after the 20-20 WC has finished and therefore miss this series.

I think Dhoni at least might be glad of the trip.

About half of that Indian squad could have done with sitting this series out.

Why has Tendulkar been rested? He didn't play in the world T20, so it doesn't really make sense that he's rested but a guy like Ishant, who has played basically non stop cricket for a year, is included in the squad.

But at least they will be safely out of the country (India) for a bit, is what I meant.

Aren't they mainly playing T20s and oh, the occasional ODI in the Caribbean? Not quite Tendy's thing.

it is. doesnt make sense to take a 36 year old who should be wrapped in cotton-wool for tests and the important odi series to a short odi tour thats halfway round the world. blood some youngsters instead

How badly the FTB got exposed against short ball in English conditions is beyond joke!!!
And then he shamelessly says in his intro that pull is his favorite stroke.

And Indian team would have rest of 72 days before its next int'l assignment which is Champions Trophy in SA, unless BCCI pulls something new out of bag.

And thankfully, Nayar got selected this time around. He should have been there before that FTB (who as I've said and has been proved so many times) is simply not good enough to play at int'l level.
Whether Nayar gets to play is another matter.

Badrinath is a strange. Didn't do too much in the IPL either. Would have been the ideal opportunity to give Pandey some exposure.

Sorry to disappoint you. No effigies this time. People have learnt to not get too worked up over 'cricket' anymore it seems...

Remember saying at the height of Raina's one day success under Dravid/Chappell that he would never be sucessful outside against good bowlers. 3 years down the line, he is not even good enough to play a 20 over sloggers match now outside. How bad is that?
Read in newspaper Vijay's stats last few 'games'. I agree Srikanth has lost the plot as a selector. How much has Pathan [I] played of late to be 'rested' btw?

Re: Indian squad for the WI tour
My only real and actual concen in all this mess is that a hell lot of these unfit to play even a T20 carp players will be making a transistion in the test team in a couple of years time to replace the Tendulkar/Dravid/Laxman trio!

Pathan's been dropped. Harsh, but not many issues with that.

that's good altho I expect Invader Zim will be disappointed that he has lost the opportunity to diversify into the Indian market
