Well until 1 July at least. After the country will be in a paradox with a barely conservative lower house and a barely left upper house.
The Democrats seem to be having one last middle finger to the Australian people - it seems that it is their preferences going to the Libs in the ACT senate that will prevent the Greens from picking up a spot their.
As for what Abbott might do before 1 July, he obviously can't be OTT. Because come 1 July NOTHING will get through the upper house and a Double Dissolution won't really make much difference for the Senate.

Would have been a refreshing change if Gillard had come out and said 'well. we really screwed the pooch on this one...'

Dear oh dear.
Interesting times.
Exit polls badly off... people didn't want to admit to voting for Abbott perhaps?

Erm, no, she may win the 2PP and has certainly done better than Howard did in 1998.embee wrote:Farque me ...she's taken a hammering at the ballot box and she comes out spouting how farquing good theyve been ...
Abbott would have won by 10 seats if Rudd had been PM.

Antony Green suggesting that the ALP and Coalition may both wind up with 72 seats, with 6 'others'.

Theres a swing of 2.6%* against the last election results ...that's the hammering
If they'd been as good as she'd spouted they wouldnt have had to sack Rudd and they would have at least held their 07 vote
Howard had a 13 seat majority after '98 ...the pinkos farqued up by not stacking the electorates properly
*according to the AEC website at the moment

Probable that the Coalition can't win a no-confidence vote without independent support.
Julia is PM until the independents decide she isn't.

Just flicked over to channel 7, after switching between ABC and Sky.
It was election night for dummies.
And probably rated the best of the lot.

That qunt Abbott basically made a victory speech. Still, at least 2 of his daughters are highly bangable.

In other news, turns out that I voted for comedian "Austen Tayshus". He ran under his actual name Alexander Gutman for the Sex Party in my electorate.
