publication of half-truths which have put his career and life in danger
Agree he doesn't have much of a case because the fake Shiekh and NOTW are too cunning for some one like Yasir BUT at least some NOISE has to be made.

On what basis is he going to sue FFS?
That he didn't say the words, or that he was duped?
Win or lose he is going to look like a prize muppet.

If he doesn't think he can win - what the f**k is he doing going to court?
This is getting to surreal for words!

not really bro, they did the whole thing in a very sly manner, i guess you have to understand urdu to get the full ideavilkrang wrote:He can't win, they only published what they had him on recording saying.
Even if the info was 100% i am still fully against NOTW's actions, i don't any FAIR and honest player should be put in to such a tough situation.
Not every one is as brave as Rashid Latif and no one should be FORCED to be that way.

He cannot deny saying what he is actually shown to have said - so he, or his brief, is going to have to portray his comments in a light which is unflattering to himself - in other words - he was duped. In the words of someone wiser than me: "good luck with that"

I'm not saying I applaud the NOTW because I don't, but I can't see how he can win a case in court, they may have been sly but the words came out of his mouth.PlanetPakistan wrote:not really bro, they did the whole thing in a very sly manner, i guess you have to understand urdu to get the full ideavilkrang wrote:He can't win, they only published what they had him on recording saying.

M Akram is a fairly intelligent guy, his fake british accent is slightly annoying though.Henry wrote:Pakistan hasn't produced an intelligent cricketer since Akram.

So then we are in agreement
I also think that he is going to LOSE the case(only people like Galloway can deal with these arseholes from NOTW) how ever its still a good idea to make some noise against these people.

I think the Cricketing World owes a lot to NOTW for cracking this open. Now people can't ignore and pretend that it does not happen.

the crux is NOT what he said but the fact that those sneeky bastards from NOTW made the whole thing public so to repeat what i said in the other
if a player comes out against the bookies and tries to disrupt the illegal betting system then he is putting his AND his family's life in danger. This is especially true for countries like Pakistan where the law and order situation isn't great.
not every one wants to be Rashid latif so why should a player who DOES NOT want to put his and his family's life in danger be forced to come out in public and give the info to the incompetent fools running the ICC?

Re: Yasir Hameed to sue News of the World
An interesting case. I think rather than sue the News of the World Hameed might be better suing himself for bringing Yaser Hameed into disrepute. His comments were clearly intended to showcase himself in a negative and derogatory light, and I think he may have a case.
If I were him I would be having some very stern words with myself right now.
The best thing about this whole saga was Afridi's quote "Hameed has the mind of a 12 year old". When Peter Pan himself thinks you're too immature then you have problems.
