If England retain the ashes- There will be muted celebration by the English public, seeing as this series is on at an un-Godly hour in the UK. Strauss and co will be lauded upon their return and be invited to 10 downing Street again. There wont be an open top bus parade but perhaps rather a smaller party at Lord's or something like that.
If England lose the ashes- I don't think there will be mass sackings (unless it's a 0-5 thrashing) but a couple of players and support staff may lose their jobs.
