be interesting to see the crowd figure, since CA were purely scheduling the game for the day after Melb Cup Day to get a boost in numbers.

So are Melbourne bosses gonna let their drunken employees take three arvos off in a row (The Cup, the JAMODI, and the Oaks). Oh, that's right - Tues is a public holiday in Melbourne - no?

Ponting not playing, attending funeral (presumably not the funeral relating to the death of Australian cricket)

OK, I know that funerals have to be held, but surely it wouldn't have been too difficult for the family to think 'Hang on, her grandson's the captain of the Australian cricket team maybe we should have the service on a day when the national team isn't playing cricket...
I mean, it's not like his grandmother will be any less dead on Thursday.

Watson interviewed just before. Says he's 'in a good space' atm and he has aspirations regarding the captaincy.

There is only around 15,000 people in the MCG, and around 10,000 are Sri Lankan supporters.

There's a match in progress, in Australia, and no posts here for 45 minutes. OD cricket is dead.
Much like Australia in the 50 over form.

The crowd would confirm that. Lots of wide open spaces in the MCG.
Paris confirming his spot in T1 with this knock.
And as Woodie says, we suck.
