Good thing that FTB is out of the way. He is really really hopeless as a batsman on pitches that do something.

What the hell just happened? I just saw the last 15 overs in the whole game and it still doesn't sink in. This may go on par with the win in Titan Cup final in 1996. What a choke. It was always interesting with 3 wickets in hand and 25 more to get. I had a feeling even with 7 runs more needed and 2 wickets in hand that we would get one more down. I expected India to choke with 1 wicket still to go and not SA to choke with 1 run however. The run for the last 3 runs were electrifying. i thought we missed the bus when Yuvraj missed a run out.
I was expecting a 5-0 whitewash as I had no hopes from this batting line-up. The batting has been on par of my expectations but this fighting determination has surprised me a lot. Still trying to catch my breathe.
Brilliant work! Simply brilliant.

Wasn't choking in this case. Just poor selections.

Losing by 1 run with 8 overs still in hand, after the kind of batting partnership Smith and Ingram put up is choking.

Wouldn't want to be a Saffie fan atm. Think Parnell must be the most devastated. From being a possible hero, a savior to losing it for the team, He must have must have seen it all in the last 2 overs. Hats off to Dhoni for attacking and taking risks for once in a difficult situation. Wish he did this more often in tests.

Every one blames the selections these days. Whether its the team selected for a game or the shots players play in a match. Its the in thing to do. You guys choked big time! Deal with it.
And why you getting all worked up and abusive? If you can't deal with your Man-o-pause. consult your agony aunt in those womens magazines you are so fond of reading!

I only get annoyed with you as you are such a fair weather qunt. You might not of noticed but most of the Indian tour there has been very little rancour on the board.
But you wouldn't know that because you only appear when an Indian victory is in the offing.

india lucked out on that one. didnt deserve to win considering our gameplan while batting
south africa choked. no two ways about it. they had the game in the bag till the last 3-4 minutes
still dont see us winning the series though if we keep to the same strategy

Choking - the World Cup must be around the corner.
Disgraceful from the SA bats after their bowlers had put them in the winning position, even if batting under lights is more challenging.

So what do you suggest - Tahir? du Plessis? Peterson? They're the only other ones in the squad. Not sure if Miller and Ingram is the way to go. Has Albie fallen out of favour?

Is there a chance that the BCCI could exert their corrupt influence in a good way and have the powerplay notion shitcanned forever?SG wrote:Indeed. They've been pisspoor at getting it right since its advent.
Maybe it's a new tactic from them, to try and get the chokes out of their system before the WC.Red wrote:Choking - the World Cup must be around the corner.

Re: South Africa v India, 2nd ODI, Johannesburg, Jan 15, 2011
Sachin Tendulkar is returning home due to a hamstring injury and this is worrying for India. Just last week I had expressed the fear of SRT getting hit in the growing list of our injuries:
This isn't good at all. Not good at all if all.
Batman wrote:As the WC nears, India's list of personnel in infirmary increases. Praveen Kumar is out of the whole ODIs against SA already [exageratting an injury by playing a crap T20 was the best way to go about it]. Yuvraj has been forever injury and fitness wrecked for a long time now [going the Flintoff way most certainly but due to his own recklessness than how Flintoff actually built a respectable workload]. Gambhir [racing Shoaibh Akhter now for missing alternate games to niggles] and Sehwag are also having issues of niggles. Sreesanth suddenly has tennis elbow. Zaheer is always on the verge of a breakdown. Now all we need is for Sachin to be injured and the list will be perfect.
This isn't good at all. Not good at all if all.

Unbelievable that SA should lose a game by 1 run chasing a paltry 190 on the same venue where they created history successfully chasing 438 against Aus. Cricket is really funny and a great leveler.
