Morgan - test player or not?
Got my doubts personally - I think he's capable of playing the million dollar innings now and again but not sure that technique is going to be very consistent at this level.
Or... maybe England can live with a player like that?

He looked pretty sh!thouse in that 2nd dig to me, and played a god-awful shot to get out.

I'm undecided. I'm not filled with confidence when he comes out to bat with the ball moving around. Reckon he might prove useful in the Sub Continent over the Winter, though. We can afford to carry him for the moment. In general out batting is in the best shape it's been since the 1950s.

Don't think he has the technique for test cricket. Can't see his average getting above 40 which is really the absolute minimum if we want to be the best team in the world.

I think we should give him a bit more time. It's nice to have a leftie in the middle order. Give him this series to prove himself.

I agree with Trev re the left-hander, middly-orderish thing.
Don't reckon he knows where his off stump is half the time and I'm not sure he has the patience.
Saying all of this, we gave Ian Bell about hmmmm 50 Tests to mature into something that resembles a Test match player. 50 Tests.
This is the first definite run he's had in the team and he's been unselfish in giving his wicket away a couple of times.
Oh, and at least he played that decent Pakistan attack rather than 'metatarsalling' it and feasting on the chaff of Bangladesh & Australia....

Re: Morgan - test player or not?
Test player. I'll reckon he'll make it.
He has a lot of funny pre-movements, but so do others like Chanderpaul and it never harmed him. Plus he's got such a good eye and can play spin well.

I imagine he'll get the series to lock down six, if he can. It's not like Ravi Bops is nipping at his heels.
Can't help but feel his FC career average of 30 is a more than accurate reflection of his ability in the longer form of the game. But he does seem a bloody determined type who could be "moulded" into a Test batsmen over time.

He will be given enought time to prove himself - that's for sure. I think he's the best option available at the moment - and don't forget his fielding either.

Couldn't forget it yesterday as he dropped an absolute dolly off Harbhajan...
Re: Morgan - test player or not?
You missed out the words "straight" and "standing thirty yards away in the covers".
It was a dolly of a pickle. Shelled like Soft Cell.
