Before this series, a 4-1 win for SL would have displaced Australia at #1. Now it's either going to be 3-2 or 4-1 to Australia. I must say I'm a little surprised, but not unhappy. Hopefully this series means the rot has been stopped.

Neither team is a worthy No 1 though.
Is there a chance that Aust could rejig the order to give some of the test players a go and maybe Watto a rest?

Well the Argus review says the players need to perform to get paid... Maybe this will see the end of the 'rotation' system.

On the other hand, I think some proper planning wouldn't hurt either.

As this is now a dead rubber game, Aust will almost certainly lose. The only thing that could upset this is if they give some of the bench players a game. (except Smith)

But he was fit at the start of the series. WTF open with Haddit when you've got the IPL destroyer in your squad? Game 4 before they gave him a go - WTF??

Any opinions on Eranga?
I would think he has a decent future.

Garquen Tony Greig's hypocracy sh!ts me to tears. He went on about how Malinga should've apologised to Drunky for the beamer he slung at him (and probably he should have) and how the spirit of cricket was very important. Greig was one of the dirtiest, most dishonest qunts to ever take the cricket field AND almost killed Graeme Watson with a beam ball during the World XI tour in 71-72.
Yarp qunt.

Tony Greig invoked the spirit of cricket?

Aye, and I'm sure Pumpkinhead would have something to say if he was still around, about some unsavoury words from Greigy during the Centenary Test. Then there's his stance on walking when I remember several large deflections off Mr Greig's bat or gloves that he stood his ground on and survived. One in particular in 1975 that had Rod Marsh furious comes to mind. Old Tom Spencer missed a large deflection off those fat St Peters gloves of Greig's off a bouncer from Thommo. Bacchus couldn't believe the not out call.

Is it just me, or are we returning more to the traditional score of 240 to 260 being the norm for team totals in JAMODIs? Something in the decks for the bowlers so it's not just a flat-batathon. Batsmen having to work hard for runs. Much more interesting to watch.

Yeah that trend has been evident for the past 12 months or so. Even some of the WC games between the better nations seemed to follow that pattern.

Lordy, we've been Malingered.
A traditional score of 240 to 260 would've been nice.

Well, not even the bench players will save this pile of poo. Amazing that Malinga gets so many wickets. He's only got two balls, the full toss & the yorker.
Re: Sri Lanka v Australia, 5th ODI, Colombo (RPS), 22 August, 2011
But he bowls them both with remarkable accuracy.
