300 will be competitive. Not that they'll get there now, the weak sh*ts.

A lot depends on Dan's mate Flangelo.

Sri Lanka just can't handle pressure at all. The biggest panickers in world cricket when things go a little bit wrong for them. Especially against Aus. Aus could field their under 15s side and Sri Lanka would still find a way to collapse in a feeble heap against them. And they're not helped by an unpredictable and government controlled selection panel, either.

They really only have two world class players in their side though. Sanga and Jaya would be picked in many people's World XI, but after that it falls away.
Dilshan can be devastating but, as the Foxy boys are saying, maybe the captaincy is cramping his style. Sammy is a classic FTB who melts when he's up against some decent bowling. The Piranha is sluggish rubbish, and if Gashews fails they are farked here.
So basically, if SL is up against a reasonable attack, if either Sanga or Jaya fails, they're r00ted.

I fear for them when Sanga and Mahela retire within the next few years. None of their young batsmen look that special, and their bowlers need favourable conditions to be effective.

Something happened behind the scenes just before the World Cup final when they made FIVE changes from the last game. I think the players are pissed off with the politics and have just given up trying. There's a feeling of 'meh' surrounding their cricket at the moment.
their bowling, like india's, looks extremely ordinary. but their batting would be expected to put up some kind of fight, especially at home. they did a whole lot better in england than so far here
maybe the shocker of a pitch in T1 has done their heads in. they seem to forget these are the same pitches where they usually murder visiting attacks

There's just no substance to their batting. Apply the blowtorch just a fraction and they all collapse (or burn?) like a pack of cards.
And that includes Mahela. I've always felt he's vulnerable to the odd chirp and tempting wide delivery. Has trouble finding his off stump early on.

Johnson is back to usual shytness. As he only seems capable of bowling one good session in every five Tests, perhaps he should only be selected for every fifth test.

We are going to regret that sitter that Watto dropped. Sanga looking in form here.

Yeah, disappointing stuff from Midge. Leaking a 4 ball ever over.
Flangelo just gets away witha miss-hit off Reeb.

Mental, that team would probably be number 1 in the world right now.Henry wrote:Well maybe 15 years ago he wouldn't have made the Australia A side.
Australia A in 1996-
Hayden
Elliott
Langer
Law(c)
Lehmann
Bevan
Gilchrist+
Bichel
Kasprowicz
Gillespie
MacGill
ALL of those guys would walk into the current Aussie side. Amazing depth you had. A lesson for England now, perhaps- Never take your depth for granted and keep working hard behind the scenes to produce young talent.
Edit: Ah, I see everyone and their mother has already said as much...

Watto's looks a bit ordinary as well. Undoing the excellent early work by Rhino and Steady.
