I think you might be right.

I'm not sure the truth will show him in the best light, to be honest.

There are certain murky aspects of his life and character.

Been out the back working and came in to find several SMSs, all about Spanky.

Not my favourite human bean, but nobody deserves death early. Wonder what happened.

Reports say that the Police have removed several 'personal items' from the room. Its sounding more & more like suicide.
I didn't always agree with everything he wrote but i always enjoyed listening to his match commentary. It was certainly more interesting than the drab Maxwell drone.

Certainly sounds like suicide when you Gideon on the news tonight talking about the darker side to him it was like a door sealed off, even to those close to him.

A real shock. RIP.

One report I heard had him coming home from dinner then being confronted by police. Next morning he was dead. Wonder what the cops said to him?

It has now been confirmed that he took his own life.

The Black Dog, then, pushed along by an inability to bear the public scrutiny of his faults and foibles. A nasty combination, and very sad for those that loved him.

At least we're not going to be subject to a daily diet of different theories as in the Woolmer case.

I wasn't a huge fan of his writing - but what a sad way to go. R.I.P.

Wow, that's farked up sh!t. I've had some very low moments in my life in the past 10 years, but invariably the Aus cricket team lifted me well beyond the morose of topping oneself. Can't imagine what went on inside Spanky's head to do this.

May not have always agreed with his opinions as a journalist, but as a commentator very astute.
My condolences to his Family and Friends.

The wisest words my youngest brother ever said to me were " Borther, you get one go at this life. Why let yourself be overcome with misery? Do what you have to do to be happy." Words to live by.

Well there have been times when I've thought it would be easier just to check out early - not seriously mind you, but seriously enough to shock me.

But it's often the little things that bring me back to reality. If I was in South Africa I would want to live to see that second Test and find out how the Aussies will respond.

Obviously, the things going on in Roebuck's head trumped any desire to stick around to see how it panned out.

He was entertaining enough as a commentator, although he could be grating at times. I found his articles overly flowery and felt they often shed more light on his prejudices than they did about the game. But I still read him as a matter of course and enjoyed doing so.

His passing is both shocking and sad.

Aye, as has been said, I didn't agree with a lot of his views but his articles were well constructed and came from an obviously intelligent perspective. I suppose we all need a different view on things, but he could be so incredibly objectionable. No-one should die like this, though and it's a crying shame. RIP.

That is seriously farked up. Something bad must have happened with that police visit to warrant this.
