news just in that yuvraj has been dropped and rohit sharma is picked in the squad for the next test

in case laxman's back still gives him problems we could see 2 of kohli/rahane/sharma in the middle order. these 3 could well be our long term replacements for the golden generation

Well that should be it for Yuvraj at test level then. Shame. He's such a talent. I guess he just didn't want success at test level enough.

He did have the game. He just didn't have the dedication to work on his technique, and he's a bit lazy.

So even though Rohit has come into the squad I assume it will be Kohli who replaces Yuvraj in the side? Why do they need a 15 man squad for a home test?

Woooohooooo.

Great news to see Yuvraj being dropped from test squad despite Dhoni's reluctance to see his pal being out.

Seems like we're learning something from that Eng tour. First Bhajji dropped and now Yuvraj. It just gets better and better for us.

Only one more thing. Don't allow these 2 to get anywhere near whites for at least a season, in case of Yuvraj never ever.

When was the last time we played at test at Wankhede though? Has to be one of the best pitches in Indian for tests, has everything for everyone unlike Kotla and Eden.

Chinnaswamy too used to be same after being relaid, it has reduced to being yet another flattie.

Surely. As TO said if we decide to rest VVS then it may well mean test debut for Rohit.

I was so pissed off with him when he decided to get his finger broken just before toss against SA at Nagpur.

And considering how much he loves to bash Aus it makes sense to rest him for far more important Aus tour.

that seems a fair comparison

Andrew Symonds IMO was also very fortunate to play a game (Test cricket) for which he was never really equipped, mostly on the back of his ODI performances and being in the right place at the right time

2006 vs england

that was a terrible last day i went for. hopefully more joy this time around, though again the bcci has to spoil it all with some brainless scheduling. only the 5th day looks possible for me and that too after 2 pm. doubt the match will last that long

I feel sorry for Sir Garfield Sobers. When youngsters ask what Sobers was like, some folk tell them "He was just like Yuvraj Singh, only older". It's very unfair.

I won't ever equate Symonds, the test player with Yuvraj, the test player.

Former was miles ahead of Yuvraj even in test cricket. Shame about his off field affairs otherwise he could've been very very explosive player for Aus even in test cricket.

I think Aus too didn't handle his case properly. He should've been given 1 last chance to redeem himself.

I doubt many Australian fans feel the same way about Symonds as a Test player. Never really good enough for Tests IMO ... he did play one very important innings, but he was probably very lucky to get into double figures.

What about his 150-odd at MCG in Ashes '06? I don't know the context of the game so can't comment on its quality.
