This is going well, WI 72/3... probably as many posts as this match warrants
Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
Has anyone ever commented on the fact that Bravo has a similar style to Lara?

Raul Bravo.
The white Lara they call him. Kind of like the Black Bradman. Just less white and less Bradmany

Rawl Bravo. Little known fact: named after Lou Rawls, who was 'The Black Sinatra'. As John Twotson would say: "Nice bit of symmetry there"

F*ck you, you heartless b*stard.
Why did you have to do that? You could've waited till he played 70 test matches

He's at the very least going to drop pace after a career-threatening injury. That is now all he has to aspire to.
Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
He's an Indian fast bowler. As if he wasn't already going to get 'IPL'd' and lose heart/pace.....

Very true. I'm sure he'll have a good Aus tour 1st, though.....
Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
Yep, Irfan Pathan, PR Singh, and Ishant have shown the way- Publishing some quality wank material in Aus, before becoming fat, rich, slow, and totally non erotic.
Well, at least that's how Mark Nicholas sees it.

Yeah, though they've always had chinks in the armour... well especially RP and IKP. I knew they weren't the messiah. Thought the effeminate Llama was though.
Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
Let's be honest- Ishant still might turn out to be very, very good. After all the ups and downs he's had, he's still only 23. If he was English, he probably wouldn't have played a test yet, and would be considered a "work in progress" under the guidance of some numpty coach at Loughborough.

Pathan had fewer chinks - good action, swung it in to the right hander quite sharply, first few tests pace was mid 80s, hitting 90 occasionally. I remember he picked up a side strain after the home series v Aus around 2004 and was never the same pace again.
Sharma's action looks a bit clumsy to me.

Pathan never looked like he had the stamina for Test cricket, I thought he could become an ODI great, though. It was Ishant's accuracy and bounce that really got me, I thought he was the new Glenn McPidge. He can still be a top bowler, but I would be getting tired of him if I were either a selector or a fan.
Trev, you don't think he'd have played a Test if he be English? Aren't you astonished at how close his career has mirrored Sturat Broad's?

Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
Yeah Ishant, Broad, M. Morkel.....They're all around the same level, ability wise. And before the Saffie worshippers start going on about Morkel being so much better, check out the pitches he got to bowl on against Aus- Saffie pitches have more life in them than most.
Ishant actually bowled well in the recent West Indies series without much luck and no help whatsoever from the pitches. I reckon he could do with pitching it a yard fuller, though. Ditto Broad for most of his career. Although you could often say he could do with pitching it 8 yards fuller.....

^ The first thing that comes to mind is 'GASH!!!!'. Secondly, you'd say that N-Force has probably underachieved the most.
Re: India v West Indies, 1st ODI, Cuttack, 29 November, 2011
remarkably similar
pathan was lethal when he got the ball to swing, which was the first 10-15 overs of the match. after that he was always cannon fodder

Rohit is clearly the most talented of the younger Indian batsmen, isn't he. Oozes class.
