Pak v England preview thread
How do we see it going? England turned up in Pakistan after 2005 cockahoop but minus Simon Jones. Should've won the first test chasing 190 odd but folded there and on the last day to lose 2-0.
Crocinfo suggesting England have said they be sticking with Prior at 7 and 3 quicks/one spinner.

Well put it this way, I doubt that during this first Test there'll be some chucker bowling a devastatingly chucky spell the rips us up chucky style AND I doubt there'll be some qunt pirouetting on a good spinning length then bowling the ball into that rough to profitable results.
As for this series, I can see this defensive Pak batting line-up blunting our attack on docile pitches. Then remains the question of whether their jazzy bowlers can befuddle our batsmen.
Class will probably out in the end, however.

Three draws, most likely. Played in empty concrete stadiums on flat as f*ck pitches. It will be the worst of test cricket on display.

TBH, not the worst call. Once a spinner can beat either edge of our bats, he suddenly turns into a mysterious super-wizard that we look at in complete mouth-breathing, naive, gushy awe.
Re: Pak v England preview thread
Pakistan batting is solid but in 2005 Shoaib had a great series and none of the current bowlers are even on the same PLANET as Shoaib. I remember the last test match of the 2005 series was played on a very flat Lahore pitch but Shoaib(and Kaneria) removed 8 English batsmen with in 45 minutes.

Aye PP, it's a totally different time. It's likely that the only three players from that series going to face each other are KP, Strauss and Bell. Maybe Kamran. Different country as well.

Ajmal? His action, especially doosra, is as clean as a used tampon.

The difference between then and now is that we have had a good long break to get over the excitement of getting to the number one spot - I really don't think complacency will feature at all.
I'll go for an England win 1 - 0 on the basis that Pakistan's batting will probably blow up at least once.

Lever mentioned the previous Pakistan away series we faced where Shabbir Chucktastic Ahmed chucked four 2nd innings wickets up top which gave them the victory. Well, with a little help of the Dancetronic 3000 Afridi, who got some strange fizz from a certain area of the pitch.
But yes, Ajmal chucks his doosra. Who doesn't? Shame Swanny doesn't feel compelled to add an illegal delivery to his armoury.

I forgot about Shabbir Ahmed, I thought you were on about Akhtar. But yeah, Ahmed was awful now you've reminded me. Are they not allowed to noball cricketers after Murali had a cry? Is it just report them after the match, when the damage has been done?

Aye, that's what it was. Not sure he ever played a Test again after he won that one, as he got reported after the match. The rules changed, as you said, because Muckali had a sob.

Doesn't he? Is it even a doosra any more? Isn't it just an arm ball? The only doosra that I've seen that seems straight enough is Saqqy. They've all got a tinge of wrong to them.

There were murmours about Ashwin but he seems fine to me.

Ajmal's action is certainly NOT very clean, i feel his chucks his regular off break more than the doosra.

Botha is the only one who obeyed the ICC when they said he couldn't bowl it no more. MM just carried on chucking them in even though he was told not to bowl it..

Perhaps Ajmal should bowl at 100 mph/160 kph and become the new Shoaib.
It would keep PP happy at least.

Re: Pak v England preview thread
Considering the strength of the English batting it's hard to see where PAK will get 20 wickets from as none of the fast bowlers can consistently bowl quick nor do they have the ability of Mcgrath or even Zaheer.

Wahab Riaz may be the dark horse of the series but he seems a bit Johnsonish to me.
