Well done, h.
Hearty congrats to our England colleagues. I'm starting to struggle to remember what the euphoria feels like.
Well done to your team. They look pretty damb invincible at this moment.

Re: Congrats to England thread
Cheers H and skulls. As I mentioned in the other thread you'll have to wait for my obligatory photo posting for a couple of weeks, but don't worry, it will be coming .

It has to be done whenever possible Vilks, a period like 1989-2003 could sneak up on us at any moment. Make the most of it!

Re: Congrats to England thread
I sure as hell will. I was 20 when we lost the first test at Lords in 2005 and I was honestly thinking that I would never see England win the ashes, it was utterly surreal when we won that series and even now it just seems surreal. Growing up never seeing it happen makes it absolutely f**king amazing when it does happen.JKLever wrote:vilkrang wrote:Cheers H and skulls. Congrats to England well deserved series win.
I wouldn't they are invincible, just that Australia haven't been skillful enough to expose the weaknesses in the England line up.

Re: Congrats to England thread
Congrats to England and all English fans. You're getting a bit of a taste of what Aussie fans went through from 1989, while we're getting reminded of what we experienced in the few years before 1989.
Australia has been thoroughly outclassed by England this series, nothing changes that. Not even the 'dead cat bouce' to baggy green boys conjured up in Perth.
Enjoy it, however long it lasts.

Gotta laugh at the Balmy Army.
"He bowls left, he bowls right. Mitchell Johnson bowls sh!t*".
And then there was some sledge at Drunky to the tune of the Monkees theme.

Re: Congrats to England thread
After watching the amazing test with the spirited and zealous fight the English put up, had to wish the English fans for their team's success. Congrats England for retaining the Ashes and for back to back series success against Aus. Aus now have a whole lot to deal with back home once the series is over and looks like England finally pulls the plug or Punter's captaincy at least. While Punter will probably go down as the one who lost 3 Ashes as a captain, Strauss, the most unlikely choice of England skipper not long back may join the pantheon of Ashes winning all time great captains of yore given the 25 years of failures of most English captains for the same. Well done Pommies. Take a bow. Seeing this test made me think of why the India-Oz series isn't yet up there on the passion front at least. The last 2 test series at home in India against Oz have been lacking - in both fervour and passion. [Though we thrashed OZ right through and through]. It wasn't as intense as the current India-SA series.
Really don't feel much for Aus' loss. It was a foregone conclusion before the series even started. For the Oz fans who saw the highs of Taylor/Waugh/Punter's first half time as captain [till the big 3 went out together] - nature's laws and Newton's law of gravity still works. Even in sports. What goes up must come down. Sometimes the weight and enormity of something makes it crash that much faster and harder. So the Oz juggernaut that grew that much bigger for a long period of time, with every success, seems to have come apart that much quicker. My commiserations to you all. For someone who has seen the absolute depths of Indian cricket to it's present rise, all I can say is don't lose faith. This too shall come to a pass!
Waiting for India to do an encore in SA. Don't think we will lose this test yet. Can only hope.

Re: Congrats to England thread
Thought I better pop in and offer my congratulations.
England were too good.
We suspected as much at the start of the summer, but now that it's been confirmed, well, it hurts.
Enjoy it you Pommy bastards!

Re: Congrats to England thread
Well spoken.
No gloating here. Just an appreciation of Flower power, and a bloomin' Strauss (bouquet of flowers) to all the England players - even Colly in the doldrums but fielding like a star and driving on the team in his modest way.
Also plaudits to Hussey for his constant meticulous application and risk-taking, Haddin and Watson for their forthright aggressive batting, Hilfenhaus for his unstinting energy and parsimonious bowling, Ponting for his dedication and good grace (whenever he had cooled down a bit), and above all to Peter Siddle, for me the Australian star of the series, who offered all of the above and more.

I'll save the gloating for when the series is won. 2-2 would be proper sh!t, though I would obviously have taken it at the begining of the tour.

aye horrie.
Huge well done to Miller, Flower, Saker, Strauss, Cook and the other players. Better selections, better culture, better coaching, better preparation, better toss calling, better captaincy, better team.

You're going a bit OTT now Mick. Better toss calling?
EDIT: Sorry about the misattribution of the name. Must be my flu talking.
