Re: Haddin verdict?
As I said in the match thread, I can't fathom how the selectors are some blinkered that they think the only possible replacement for him is their blue-eyed boy Paine despite Wade being younger and his good form with both bat and gloves. They're obviously afraid of him being too good to drop if little Tim ever recovers from his sore pinky.

i suspect Wade's mediocre efforts in the Aust A games have put some doubt in the selectors minds whether he is up to the top job.

But what's so marvellous about Paine's record anyway? He averaged 35 in tests at a pedestrian scoring rate with an average of two dismissals per innings. One would have thought about par, though with a keeper it should be about what you don't take, not what you take as the majority of catches are regulation.
In ODIs, he has an average of 29 with a scoring rate of 68 FFS.
Wade wouldn't be the first not to shine in a warm-up match to be selected for higher honours.

Re: Haddin verdict?
Interesting to read this morning that with Paine injured they're concerned about Wade's ability to keep at the top level.

Re: Haddin verdict?
Hasn't anybody lauded his best feature?
Being able to talk the talk:
"Aww, look," said Haddin gruffly, with a stony-faced squint "we knew if we could keep them out there and put the numbers like we did on the board we knew we'd get the rewards because they break quicker than anyone in the world."
This could be the truth depending how many of the chances created would go towards the keeper, I suppose.

Re: Haddin verdict?
as someone commented to the Age Online yesterday re Haddin
Cant keep, cant bat, cant talk
for Oz fans, I think the guy has replaced Hilditch as the most universally detested Australian in cricket

HADDIN'S VERDICT - KEEPER HITS BACK AT "VOMIT" CRITICS
Exclusive interview with Brad Haddin
By David O’Neill
“Look, we as a team are obviously always disappointed not to come away with a win every time, but I think we dominate proceedings for the majority of every test match we play, and we can take a lot out of that.”
Haddin was in confident mood as I spoke to him. “Look mate, I have made some magnificent hundreds for Australia and taken catches too. And I can tell you what, I won’t shy away from any contest. As far as I'm concerned, I just have to fine tune things to become a bloody all-time great.”
“That's why I can't stomach these flaming cowards down in Victoria who keep spouting their bitter, twisted crap about me. Why can't they just take a look at the flaming stats, and shut their flaming mouths mate? It's sheer bloody anti-Australian if you ask me, the way they go on, running down me, the team and the country. Probably a bunch of Commies with chips on their shoulders who just hate anyone being awesome. They really make me want to vomit, when I'm giving heart and soul for the cause of Australia and my beloved New South Wales."

What happened to that New Zealander masquerading as an Aussie who was the "next Gilly"?
Or did I imagine him?

Ronchi forgets how to bat every second third and fourth innings ...and the Wozzies had a pom masquerading as an Ozzie who was threatening to become a pom unless they played him ...the kiwozzie is back in the team

embee, I read that a son of Thommo is slinging about in Wozzie grade. Have you seen or heard anything?
