FORECASTERS have predicted mixed weather for the nation on Christmas Day.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts Sydney will have a top temperature of 23C and a few showers. Showers are also expected in Brisbane (top of 27C), Canberra (22C) and Darwin (33C), where a thunderstorm is likely.

Melbourne and Adelaide can expect tops in the mid to high 20s and fine weather. Hobart will be fine but cooler, at 20C.

Perth looks the best for a dry track: the bureau predicts fine and 32C.
