Tim Coyle sounds a bit like tinfoil.
But you probably say alu foil or kitchen foil in Oz.

tin foil or oven foil
Rarely if ever hear it described as 'aluminium' ... and I would cringe if I ever hear anyone say 'aloo minim' foil, like they do in Seppoland.

Re: Glossary Update 2012
Apparently, real tin foil used to give food that was wrapped in it a nice tasty hint of tin (mmmmm!)
Perhaps that's how Michel Lotito started off.

Re: Glossary Update 2012
Hello Everyone
I have updated the Glossary with the majority of suggestions in this thread. Derogatory (to other posters) suggestions, repetition and references to other sports have not been included.
If you feel aggrieved at any of my omissions, have further worthy suggestions or find any errors please post comments in this thread.
Apologies in my tardiness, but one does have another life.
Regards
Fromage

Whoawhoawhoaaa..... slander is afoot:
'Reinventor' (see elsewhere) by poster Brass Monkey, who suggested he'd 'reinvented' Test opening batsmanship with his rapid 180
I didn't suggest that, some media clown did - I've been using it bloody ironically for that shitmuncher.

WHERE IS I RON CUBBARD?!

Re: Glossary Update 2012
I Ron Cubbard (n): England Test batsman Ian (Ronald) Bell. Term suggesting this player diffuses incapacitating alien-inspired rays capable of brainwashing potentially critical spectators into fawning, cultish adherence. Thought to have been originated by Mark Nicholas (q.v.), but much used as vituperative shtick tool by notorious Northants contributor 'Brass Monkey'.

It was bloody Chappelli. IIRC I mentioned his comment on board and you morphed it into Reinventor.

Fits perfectly!

Aye, forgot who put it on here - thought it may be embee or you.
Re: Glossary Update 2012
Yeah, we wouldn't want discussion about other sports on here, would we... delete such threads on sight!Fromage wrote:Hello Everyone

Re: Glossary Update 2012
Hello Everyone
The update took some 4 hours to complete, so I'm afraid I have no desire to go back and highlight all the changes.
Brass Monkey, do you wish me to remove references to you as as the first user of the term "Reinventor"?
I will include I Ron Cubbard.
beamer, the Glossary is fairly strictly restricted to cricket references so I declined to include references to Luke Donald by you and Rafael Nadal by vilkrang.
Please note I also excluded suggestions for nicknames that did not have reasonably wide usage. A number of posters suggested nicknames that had not been previously used. If these nicks get wider usage they can be included in future updates.
Regards

Re: Glossary Update 2012
It is too late to change the reinventor reference. From now on I will always think Monkeh Manlover whenever I watch Warner bat (thankfully that will be brief)

Re: Glossary Update 2012
I noticed something that required updating in the glossary but it was early in the alphabet and i've forgotten what it was now. Can't be arsed going back and looking.
Will be more remembery in future.
I remembered as soon as I clicked send. It's very nit-picky but Shahzad now at Notts. That was it.

Shucks, F-dog. You can say whatever you like about me, you can say that I molest canines in a bowler hat and marigolds, as long as I'm not attributed some hysterical Chappelli remark.
Re: Glossary Update 2012
Actually, I think the whole Glossary might need a looking to regarding inference of current vs former status of players as time has moved on, as well as current playing location.
But given Fromberg seems to have made somewhat of an effort to get this latest update done, I shan't be complaining too much.
