Would have been hilariously awkward if that was announced at the end of series award ceremony.
"...Erm, but Kevin isn't at the ground today so to collect this award on his behalf England have sent forward a bucket of shit."

I take it Prior was England's man of the series, can't think of too many other candidates...
For KP it could have been, "Kevin can't be here today, what a doos... but we've asked a friend of his to accept it on his behalf, the award he won for his batting, bowling and tactical advice. So here's Dale Steyn!"

Strauss would have collected it?

Without KP in the side, Prior is our best batsman these days. He should be at six.

Well done SA, too good in the end.
Well done to the poms for taking it almost down to the wire, Prior and Bairstow in particular. Ironically that it was KP's replacement was their best specialist batsman.
Interesting that twice now in less than a year in tight last day run chases by the opposition, Philander has stood up and delivered a five-for.
Stacky and a few of the other luminaries said in the Caribbean earlier this year that he's the best bowler they've seen in a long, long time. The challenge for him is to sustain it.

Interesting decisions for England to make re. the complexion of their team with KP being the elephant in the room, while SA will contemplate Rudolph/Duminy, perhaps Tahir and the fact that the keeping may be taking the edge of AB's batting.

With Tahir not coming along as well as hoped, they may consider playing Duminy as the sole spinner in Australia and home conditions. He's pretty decent, and probably a bit better than a part timer.

some threads should stay on the front page for a little while...this was a great series where one team showed its vast superiority in every facet of the game against the hitherto no.1 nation

Haven't been here much but a belated congratulations to South Africa. Fully deserving of their number one spot.
