Re: Honky Tonkday Growls
Thank you skulls, you've no idea how much I appreciate your thought - especially since I've hardly posted for ages, although I've had a read when I got chance.
It's been a year of health worries - this year Mum-in-Law had a breast off and has just finished her chemo/radiotherapy, hopefully she will be feeling better soon.
Step-daughter had a son 15 weeks premature weighing less than 2lbs (about 800g or so). He was in neo-natal for weeks but has been home about a month now .... up to about 9 lb and doing well. He still sems so tiny to me though, as I never saw my own son that size ( he was 10lb 5 oz ). After a 27 hour labour followed by normal birth you won't be surprised to learn that his mother told me in words of one syllable that he'd grow up an only child !
Things having eased off I got a call last week off my sister. Its a family joke that her phone only does incomming calls. I really have lived in my property for more years than I've had phone calls from my sis, so I knew it wasn't good news. My brother has had a severe stroke, and will be in hospital for at least another month. The situation is a nightmare for his poor wife, who has had MS for many years. Living well over 100 miles away there's bugger all I can be of any practical help - it's a generally shitty situation.
Reading that lot, you'll forgive me for taking this thread as a (much needed) "man-hug". I'm aware that your chief is not well, but all the same I hope things are on an even keel with you & yours ... and thanks again.

Sad to hear you and yours have been going through the mill, Growler.

Lordy Growls, that's some nasty gear. I feel your pain, man. And as much as we banter in here, I'm pretty sure you'll find 99% of us will back you 100% with our best wishes.Growler wrote:Thank you skulls, you've no idea how much I appreciate your thought - especially since I've hardly posted for ages, although I've had a read when I got chance.

Hope things lighten up a bit for you soon, and we look forward to your comments as a couple of hopefully great Ashes series rapidly approach.
Take care man. [gives Growls another man hug]

Blimey Growls, 'Happy Birthday' doesn't seem the right phrase - hope they all go well.
Re: Honky Tonkday Growls
Best wishes, G.
After all that, I'd like to post a picture of a nice growler to cheer you up as well ... but perhaps I'll leave that to others.

Re: Honky Tonkday Growls
Many thanks for the kind thoughts, lads.
Latest news - M in L is feeling better now her treatment is finished - at least for now. Grandson is growing well, but sadly looks like it will be a long haul for my brother.
His speech is almost normal, but he still has little movement down his LH side, and the consultant says that the clot has not been dispersed, so the damage will be permanent.
As for myself, after being on a different drug for my diabetes, all my blood test numbers have come right down, along with my BP. Having lost 2 1/2 stones since march has helped somewhat too ....... that's down to inheriting a staffordshire terrier who drags me round the estate every evening.
