hehehe...still it is no fun trying to run any element of the health system...A and E's will be filled now with even more people unable to go to their GP.
The Libs have gone back to Fraser's attempted dismantling of universal access to health care.

Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
meanwhile there is plenty of froth and bubble in state politics...hopefully it will blow over adn we will have an election in November...
Ex Lib now independent Forsure! has the balance of power and is threatening to vote with the Labs in a no confidence motion and to potentially block supply.
This is appalling. The scumbag Forsure! is a crazed extreme right winger opposed to abortion and who is partial to misuse of his entitlements
Yesterday he gave the Lib Premier a list of demands covering immunity from Priveleges Committee action on adverse findings against him because of abuse of entitlements and presumably changes to abortion laws and other loop the loop measures....to his credit Prem Nap-time gave him short shrift.
So Russian roulette commences...personally I lived through 1975 where a duly elected government was sacked by the Governor and went on streets at such outrageous action...I would be similarly appalled if the ALP took the poisoned chalice of Forsure's! vote to throw the government out

Yep. The ALP can show some class here by letting the Libs bumble along. The scheduled election isn't that far away anyway is it?

ALP shows some class by pushing to expel Shaw from the Victorian Parliament (rather than accept his vote to unseat the LNP early) ... puts the LNP in the difficult position of trying to protect the odious Shaw, at least until November.

Budget will be passed today....the labs will move to expel f'shaw...Libs would be smart to agree...but they are not...will manoevre out of it courtesy of huge pressure on the ex speaker who wants to vote with the Labs..

I still can't see the basis for Shaw's expulsion - he hasn't been convicted of anything has he?

no convictions....only an adverse finding by the Priveleges Committee....majority report wants him to repay money and receive some form of censor, the minority report wanted him booted

Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
Finally F'shaw gets suspended for 11 sitting days (with loss of pay), has to apologise to parliament and repay the funds he misused...do not expect him to apologise which will lead to him being expelled...but does not matter as it will be close to the election anyway...
It will be interesting to see what happens...F'shaw is in the pocket of Pope Kev Andrews and the extreme right of tory australia... the extreme right control the National govt at present and have deserted their fellow tories in Victoria because of their centrism and suppport for Turnbull (and value they place on common sense)

Suspension....expulsion.....with all the APS types dominating both parties since time immoral, I'm kinda surprised the rules don't allow for a judicious number of strokes of the Cane....

You and a couple of constitutional law experts. One thought is "parliament is supreme" and can decide for itself. Black letter says "treason" only. Though "insulting the monarch" may get a look in.

Don't know. He's certainly bitching about abortion enough and some conspiracy surrounding it in Vic.

he is a far right hunker down type ... his personal lifestyle is at odds with his holy roller prognostications ... he is also a complete nut job, but otherwise typical of the aspirational classes so beloved by the neo cons

hehehe...Can Do sits on a margin of around 6%...his seat is next door to Stafford...good times
meanwhile...Prem Naptime and the Libs in Vic have declared that as Anzac Day is on a Saturday next year there will be no public holiday on the monday...the opposition has countered by declaring that if elected they will gazette a long weekend for the AFOL granny...yet another nail in the coffin!!

Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
Someone writing on the weekend said that the scenario of going into a by-election on health dept issues where you've got 11% of the electorate affected by health layoffs was "a scenario you couldn't sell as black fiction".
Was actually in Stafford on the weekend. I'm surprised it was only 18%.
