Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
Can the Brownies organise a beer in brewery. Perhaps not. See excerpt from the Courier Mail in QBillyland.
"THE LNP’s attempts for a smooth transition from the Campbell Newman era has descended into chaos with a party room meeting cancelled just hours after it was called.
Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney this morning announced he was withdrawing from the leadership contest and a meeting would be held tomorrow to select a new leader.
Mr Seeney suggested Health Minister Lawrence Springborg and Treasurer Tim Nicholls would make a worthy leadership combination but did not specifically back a particular candidate.
However, hopes of a negotiated outcome were dashed after Speaker Fiona Simpson publicly insisted she’s got what it takes to lead and was best placed to negotiate with minor parties and independents.
While Mr Seeney insisted he was the person with the authority to call a partyroom meeting in the absence of Mr Newman, LNP sources said it was Mr Newman who had to call the meeting.
It is believed the meeting has now been cancelled as people seek advice as to who has the power to call the meeting.
Mr Newman has tweeted that the meeting will be held when counting in the undecided seats is decided.

Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
the smartest things to do would be
elect a leader asap who can distance themself and the lnp from asset sales (which seems to be the biggest whinge)
and who can then get the bobkats and the indi to forget all the scorn that was chucked at them in the last term
and form a dodgy wonky minority govt
and get belted at the next election
or
maintain the unpopular policy ..let pallershay form a minority govt ...and let the pinkos farque up again
and hopefully work out how not to be abrasive qunts when they next get elected

Re: Trouble in Aus State Politics
I had dealings with HiFI Fiona Simpson, Springborg and Seeney during my exile in Chip Central..
HIFI is a nice person but thick as a brick.
The Borg has been leader before and failed in 3 elections..nice bloke, but has been in parliament since he was 21 and fails to appeal to non farmers.
Seeney is both dumb and nasty.

So you are saying Seeney is a lock for QLD LNP leader.

hehehehe....remarkably even Seeney is too thick for the Brownies....the libby types in the CLP will be desperate to find a sitting member in either Brisbane or a coastal seat...but the old Nat types have the numbers and it will be the Borg.

Meanwhile, the CLP in the NT dump their second leader in a couple of years.
The new Chief Minister is someone called Willem Westra van Holthe.

No problem except fitting it on the ballot paper....one precedent from Qld is that there is no phobia about voting for someone no-one can spell

Gotta love hung parliaments. No DST rferendum this turn. And to think I was racking my brains how to legally bury it forever and my sometimes beloved, sometimes chip brethren come up with the solution.

rofl...the NT shenanigans show these folk should not have self government...haul them (and the ACT for that matter) back under the Cth's control...at best NT could be divided into two local governments

nope...certainly not a $B to get out of it...my understanding is that the contract is dubious...doubt it will get to be tested in court, there may be some compo which the State shd sue the liberal party for and the contractors will pick up other (more useful work..
the east west link was always a dud idea, hurriedly put together by the Libs without the benefit of proper studies ( inc those of the cost/benefit variety)....it was a mad farque the economy has gone down the tubes under our watch so we better spend some money, show we are men of action etc etc.
I have my own idea for a necessary flyover that would link the s/eastern freeeway, the city and Nepean Highway which services the southern suburbs....
Great idea but the flyover would have to go across Armadale, Toorak and Sth Yarra - this presents a problem as they are the suburbs favoured by the ruling class....I am risking an early demise even whispering about it as I expect the nobs may not like a flyover

negative article about it in the Age
I thought the pinkos biggest concern was the contractors werent "union preferred" ...dont think they'll get other work unless they pay for some "workplace reform training"

Bob's son doing his best to undermine the left leaning independant.
You know i got really involved in this campaign as a favour to a friend. Still scrutineering actually. And the feedback from the Fascist campaigners would have Tony turfed out today.

hehehe...beyond the immediate coterie the MM has little support...the Libs down here wimped prior to the last election in tossing him out and putting Turnbull back in...the Libs here are not happy with Terminal Tone

I hope the current government will refer this side letter from the former Govts Treasurer for IBAC investigation.
