Jeez, nearly all of the Bangers have got starts but fall over in the 20s. Under 100 needed, but only 3 poles left, and 30 overs. All 4 results still possible.

Aye, more in the first than the second innings though.
Permaul gets Shahadat second ball. Windians have this.

Done and dusted. Well done WI - didn't think they had it in them. Tino Best broke their backs.

Congrats to the West Indies.
I doubt their fans would be overjoyed by this win.

Yeah we bowled like idiots for most of this game and our pacers got carried away with the fact that Bangladesh are awful against short pitched bowling. Still, Tino woke up in the second innings, actually added line and length to his pace and from that moment on Bangladesh looked clueless.
We went into this game without any match practice at all for weeks and it showed in the field. Still the batting was mostly ok, especially as we had Ramdin at number 6 (not advisable!). Kieron Powell is coming a long nicely and Darren Bravo looks to be coming back into form after his injury which is nice. Strange failures from Gayle and Samuels though. Narine was worryingly carp in this match too, whereas Permaul looked a very handy finger spinner.
This team has a different mentality now where they are starting to believe they can win test matches and win the key moments. 3 test wins in a row now, and all pretty comprehensive in the end.

Aye, thought Permaul bowled pretty well. Is Best now sealed ahead of Roach in the pecking order?

No definitely not, Roach is one of the Worlds premier fast bowlers, he's just picked up an injury, Tino is...erm.....Tiino. I'd say he has risen up the ranks now though, he'll easily be the 3rd choice pacer after the way he has bowled in England and now here.
I'd say the pace rankings are (note Sammy doesn't count):
Roach
Rampaul
Best
Fidel
Gabriel
Johnson
Holder
Braithwaite
McLean
We've got a pretty talented crop of quicks now actually. I must be dreaminng.

Well done, WIFAN. I know the relief after Aus dodged a bullet a few years back v Bangers.

Cheers Skully.
Part of me feels sorry for Bangladesh, but the cricket fan in me says a team that fills their side with part time spinners and batting to number 9 does not deserve to win many test matches unless the pitch is awful.
Until Bangladesh get serious about developing some variety in their attack and having one or two pacers who can at least hold their own, they will not win test matches, and overseas they will just be embarressed.

Cheers, did wonder why he didn't play when in the squad. Guessing that's Carlos Brathwaite, and wasn't it Johnson and Holder who ripped into our A side?WIFAN wrote:No definitely not, Roach is one of the Worlds premier fast bowlers, he's just picked up an injury, Tino is...erm.....Tiino. Yep that's right, they'e both over 6 feet 6 inches tall and have had a long stint at the High Performance Centre and kicked arse at A team level.
Johnson is pretty quick, swings the new ball and gets disconcerting bounce, whilst Holder is only around the 80mph mark but has Ambrose like accuracy and gets very good bounce.

Clearly Tino and Permaul undid the Bangers and well done them, but I can help but feeling that a lack of concentration/discipline cost the Bangers badly. 7 batsmen made 2nd innings scores of 20, 23, 26, 16, 21, 29 & 19, so the conditions weren't difficult to get a start. If just two of those players converted those 20s to 60s,or 3 to 50s the Bangers would've registered their 4th Test win. Simply not good enough.

We got lucky to escape with this one. For the next match I would add a batsman as Ramdin batting at six and Sammy at 7 is a horrible idea even though it worked last match. Ideally I would bring Deonarine in for Sammy but I know that won't happen so I'll bring him in for either Narine or Permaul. Deonarine himself is very useful with his off spinners and can make up some of the overs lost but the side in the last match was definitely a batsman light.
