Lead of 78. Hopefully should be enough.

Yeah, batted far too slowly for me putting the pressure back on themselves.
Will need a Gayle masterclass to set a target you would think. I'd probably bump Chanderpaul up the order for the 3rd test too.
Whats the point in him getting stranded with the tail again?

I think Chanderpaul bats there by choice. No captain would want Chanderpaul at 5 in this lineup. Under Lara he used to bat there and even when Chanderpaul captained the second string team when the top players were on strike he batted himself at 5.

Morton is looking really terrible at the moment. Sarwan can't be match fit soon enough.
South Africa's bowling was absolutely outstanding today, they deserve to be in the driving seat as far as this match is concerned. Windies battled on a difficult pitch and I am still proud of the way they are competing, but today the South African bowlers were too good. Shiv is still in though so we are still in with a shout if we can get a 200 run lead.
Btw the Newlands authorities need to be dealt with by the ICC as they clearly cut the grass way shorter than it had been on the first day, something that is extremely unfair on the West Indies and also against the rules.

Agreed about the cutting, don't see how it favoured SA though.

Well, in a relatively low scoring match, 10 runs or so may well be crucial.
The whole of the WI first innings was played out on that ridiciculous outfield, but only 75-80% of the SA first innings was.
There were some shots by the SA tail that went easily for 4 that on the previous day would have barely gone for 2.
Simple maths tells you it was unfair.

Shit, you'd think that with the Windies in a precarious situation and desperately needing a partnership, captain Gayle might have been able to guts it out.

Windies never really showed any positive intent in this match with the bat.
if gayle doesn't slog a quickfire 70 odd at the start their innings just seem's to crash and burn or if they do survive it's chanderpaul batting for time.

Surely he's going to be back before the innings ends?

I don't know whether it is broken, but it seems to have been a nasty blow.

Can I just point out, that Dale Steyn was given a runner when he batted, but then was quite capable of charging in over after over and getting wickets.
Personally, half of his scored runs or all of them should be knocked off if he is now able to bowl with ease.

Agree totally.
Chanderpaul is a rock for the WI but a waste at 5 AND the way he bats with the tail is just all wrong.

Looks like Chanderpaul was waiting for the multi-injured Gayle to come back in last wicket before opening up. If they can eek up to 150/170 it could be a very interesting last innings.
Great catch from Arris to dismiss Edwards......except for the fact he grounded it as he landed. Oh well......

If the luck goes WI way with this last pair opening up, SA could be facing a very tricky chase. Lead is 129 ATM
Have to say though, so far luck has not been favouring WI.
