It's quite easy to work out, I reckon - his batting. Just like certain players before him, his batting is influencing his inclusion as a bowler. It's a ridiculous way to go about things - it hasn't worked before and I don't think it will work now. As you say, he hasn't deserved a squad chance before now, but because Bresnan is the one who has fallen by the wayside - rather than Onions, it looks they're going for the batting-filler.
He's clearly an allrounder.

I think that one day he will become a great batting allrounder & everyone will be embarrassed that they have rubbished his performances as a bowling allrounder.
Not that I have actually seen him play.

Yeah, he bats and bowls. Hence the tag.

His batting has potential. His bowling can be so unthreatening it's not funny.
Re: Bressy out, Woakes in
I see Dello's cum-stained poster boy Jason Roy has fallen out of favour. Not even in the Lions squad. To be fair, last Summer was a disappointing one for him. Still, it's hard to deny he isn't one of the most talented batsmen in the Country.

This is the thing - you sob uncontrollably at Wakely being in the C team or whatever - pulling so hard on your scrotum that I think you're going to rip it clean off... yet you see fit to mention Jason Roy in mild surprise.. here's the question I need answering: When has he done anything in any format?
Re: Bressy out, Woakes in
I've seen both Wakeley and Roy bat, and Roy looks by far the better player.

Hmmm, does he? That's a bit strange on a couple of counts - one, Roy has barely done anything on the TV, two, if we're talking aesthetics there aren't many as good as Wakely (who has lacked substance more than style). So I'm sure, with such a small sample size on offer - I doubt that 'by far' is an accurate statement. But each to their own - Roy has bags of talent. But Roy also has a horrendous lack of results thus far, he's barely averaged over 30 in a season and his List A record is underwhelming.
He doesn't deserve to be near a Lions squad.
Re: Bressy out, Woakes in
Maybe. But without wanting to sound all Dello, you feel he's just a smidgeon away from 'making it'- Bursting through and putting up the big numbers. Has all the shots. Just needs the temperament to go on and really make it count. Countless times on TV I've seen him get to 50 and then throw it away.
Wakeley? Yeah he's ok. But how many seasons has he been playing first class cricket now? Six? And he still averages what, 28? 29 maybe?

Oh, I see he's managed to nudge his first class average up to 30. Two hundreds in 64 games...That's Watson-esque.

Aye - who's putting Wakely forth? He's a joke. Still, averaging 38-odd, in the last two years in FC, averaging near-50 at 85ish in the last two years List 'A'.
Jason Roy - ave 30 last year, 30 year before in FC, List 'A' - ave 24 overall, 12 last year.
Not worth the mention.

Aye Horace.. I'm glad he doesn't like Wakely, from the little he's seen of him. Roy has had a Dello note and a heavy enough Trevving - with those two imbeciles masturbating furiously in his corner he's hardly likely to do anything. If he makes it to see 30 it'll be a miracle.
Re: Bressy out, Woakes in
What are you talking about? He's already averaging 30, as you said.....

That is only a rumour
We have tried to turn him into an allrounder with spectacular failure apart from the 12fer he took on an Old Trafford pitch that resembled the crust of of one of my apple crumbles.

Re: Bressy out, Woakes in
He's a better bowler than Fat Sam. If only he could make a few more runs, he'd be pushing for the batting all rounder spot in the ODI side.
For his own career perhaps a change of Counties is what's needed? A lot of players get into a comfort zone being at the same County for their whole careers (although I think Moeen is originally from Warks?) A new County might bring a new approach.

I can see it happening. I think he'll be out of contract with us at the end of 2013.
