Re: England Qualified Players Who MIGHT NOT Be S**t
Hales is f*cking sh*te this year. I was gonna delete him off the list but I let him off 'cause he scored a ton t'other day. In fairness to him he's got a pretty decent record in limited-overs formats. And he'd probably be a millionaire by now if he'd been allowed to play all the Twenty20 leagues. He's basically just a glorified hitter, now. W@nker.beamer wrote:Hales has knocked nearly 4 runs off his FC average... shows what a shocker he's had this season. Not that we ever thought it was that likely he would develop into a Test prospect, and he's shown a bit of a recovery in white ball form recently.
Which of those "all-rounders including keepers" are keepers? I suppose Rashid might as well give it a go, given the direction his bowling average is heading...
And as far as keepers go, I couldn't find any who meet my strict criteria. Jos Buttler is in the batsmen column for two reasons - 1) even though he doesn't average enough, I called him as one of the most promising players toward the start of this thread. He and the others who were in my second list have just been added to the original lists, and 2) he is not in the all-rounders list because he does not keep wicket for his county. There is talk that he will be coming to Nottinghamshire this winter where he'll become our limited-overs keeper, and presumably will play as a specialist batsman in the first-class stuff. To be honest, that would be a great move for both parties. Chris Read will not last much longer.
I guess all the Lions boys should really be added to the list, but seeing as Allan D caused the 'edit' option to be bastardised a long time ago, that is no longer an option.

What's happened to the edit option?
I've wanted to see Hales get a go in ODI cricket for a long time, it would really show us what he's got beyond the T20 format. But they're committed to Cook and Bell at the top of the order now and making the "powerplays" time to head for the bar. And he's always opened in all formats so not sure if he would work as a middle order hitter.

You can only edit for 10 mins (15?) these days, beams. Not sure it was really because of AD. You know that Chiv Gus fellow, he is such a tease.
Buttler has gone to pot of late.

It was changed to ten minutes a couple of years. AD was the catalyst as he went back and bastardized a thread that was a couple of years old.beamer wrote:What's happened to the edit option?

Good thread. We need an Australian equivalent. It might be short.
