I think Pomgolian fans are being unfair to Finn...the pitch did not suit him - precisely as it did not suit the Oz quicks...that said he struck two deadly blows...personally I think Monty would have done better than Swann - tho I doubt he would would have caught Agar on 98

Re: Are the poms the new Bannies?
Finn should not have played at TB - so unsuited was the pitch to his style of bowling. I think you can expect more of the same in terms of conditions at Lords as the weather doesn't look like it's going to break any time soon, so I wouldn't mind betting that he'll get dropped for Bresnan even though it's Finn's home ground.
Swann was poor at TB, but it would be a no-brainer to drop him for Monty when you've got so many left-handers.

Haven't watched any cricket in quite a while, but I'd imagine the closeness of the first test must have been down to a bit of a fluke performance from the Aus side and maybe some carelessness from the English. Aus should be able to lose comfortably for the rest of the series.

Indeed I did. But just looking at the names of the Australian XI, you can see they have enough lack of quality to be able to lose comfortably. Unless by some strange phenomena, English players become crap overnight and their Aussie counterparts start playing twice the level of their abilities, and both things continue that way.

How's this semi-snivelly whineathon going BTW?
Just random pitches, or are these sinister dustbowls cooked up by table-thumping colonial masters in the conspiracy theory that makes old Roman trannys crying their lungs out?

The new Bannies beat Australia 4-0 at home, so the poms could still be the new Bannies.

Good point. Can we claim a moral victory in that case?tricycle wrote:The new Bannies beat Australia 4-0 at home, so the poms could still be the new Bannies.

Poms were always the bannies. Aussies & other sissies can keep running after the peachier than peachy-bottomed pom poms.

Yes. If you've read the definition and couldn't tell, you've not engaged with the man's work.
