I was watching the highlights of the Lord's test the other day on Fox Sports, and it honestly seemed like they'd edited out the definite edge sound from the Agar caught behind dismissal. I remember watching it live, and the microphones picked up a clear edge noise, but on the edited Fox highlights there was nothing.

Im not sure if KP uses anything on his bat but his reaction was of a player who thought he hadnt hit the ball not of one who was hoping to trick the technology ...that said the decision not to overturn was correct as there was nothing to show he definitely hadnt hit the ball

Talking of Chappelli, he reiterated that he thinks it should be left in the hands of the third umps who is there to overturn howlers. He said that the system where reviews are finite was never going to get rid of the howlers and said that when you have got players whose careers could be on death row you will always get frivolous appeals.

He also thinks that you need someone who understands videotape sitting next to the tv ump as the technicians at nine say that you need to understand the technology to make foolproof decisions. He admitted that both hotspot and snicko have human 'hands' involved which means they will never be beyond reproach.

Last night they were banging on that they had proof of the allegations. This proof consisted of the bloke who invented Hotspot having done tests that show fine snicks do no show up on silocon tape. How does that proof that KP or anyone used it?

They then interviewed a bat manufacturer who makes bats "for many of the top batsmen in world cricket" who said he had several requests to apply tape to bat edges and then showed him applying fibreglass tape not silicon tape.

The Hotspot inventor is now saying all coatings (including protective) impair hotspot's effectiveness - which is completely different to the accusation from the qunts at Nein.

His response was to say that the ICC should ban protective coatings so that Hotspot will work.  

What sort of nong would suggest alterting the Laws of the game to suit some technology brought in to aid the game instead of making the technology suit the Laws?

That is as daft as changing the Laws to suit a bowler who cannot deliver the ball correctly.  And they would never do that would they.

He's a desperate man trying to validate a technology not up to the game's demands in order to obtain a financial benefit. Perhaps he should insist on aluminium bats?

One of the next Law changes ...coming into effect as a Law on Oct 1 ....is to suit the batsman when the bowler cant deliver the ball properly
