Any Karticle, and that is all of them, that includes the phrase "and I would argue", is dubious at best.

Still, Haddit DOES have a good Ashes record.

Actually Gilchrist's record overall has to be looked at in the context of more often than not batting with zero pressure.

Sorry, any inference that Gilly was not our greatest ever keeper-bat is, IMHO, bogus.

And I can think of plenty of games where Gilly's batting either saved us, or took us from a fair to invincible position. The guy was a genius.

Agree. On a career basis there is no competition for the top Aus keeper-batsman. But if only Ashes are considered then there's not much between Gilly and Haddit.

Your point about "easy runs" for Gilly is perhaps more valid in the Ashes. Can't think of too many times Gilly saved us in Ashes contests. Can think of plenty where he took a reasonable position to unassailable. Haddit, on the other hand, has a great record of playing a major role in resurrecting Ashes innings.

Gilly is not the best Aussie keeper-batsman ever. He is just THE best keeper-batsman ever.

aye...he also looks like he could make a good commentator....the BBL commentators have been a revelation...both punter and gilly have been more than useful...
