Australia vs England: Which country is greater?
I'm currently reading a blog on SMH about young Australians and their obsession with living in London on a work VISA, it has quickly turned into a England vs Australia slanging match about which country is greater.
So here are the main arguments.
Australia: Weather, beaches, lifestyle, food
England: Arts, proximity to the rest of the world, history, culture
Obviously Australians will say Australian and the English will say England, but people, let's get some real balanced opinions as to why your country is better.

Re: Australia vs England: Which country is greater?
Here's an interesting quote from a blogger.
"The difference is short. The UK (and London in particular) matters to the rest of the world - it is hugely significant in arts, fashion, finance, food, politics, history, music and just about anything else you care to think of.
Australia has many advantages but it will NEVER have the world status of London or the UK. That is what drives the bitter Aussie types mad and gets them so excited over ultimately meaningless sporting victories etc. Those with a bit of sense would not worry about such trivia."

How surprising.
Of couse it should probably be understood that because it's a SMH blog all references to 'Australia' actually mean 'Sydney'. This may give neutral readers a false impression of the strength of the arguments made for 'Australia'.

Given the opportunity now, I'd leave this backwards island and head for the good ship Australia without a look back.
So yeah, Australia basically. I'm sure it's not perfect, but the "arts and culture" found within this country only breeds pretentious yuppies who make an artform out of masturbation. Thereafter there's the reprobates of society who are just c**ts.
At least you still get some inbred lunatics in Australia to look down upon. Even our lunatics are supping tea and discussing which particular quality of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata sets it apart from all other classical pieces. Like I said, pretentious nob-ends.

England is a country anyway, suck nards.

Re: Australia vs England: Which country is greater?
I have always felt, England has lost touch with reality. Which is bad news however high one gets.
Australia is ahead in that sense.
Though I can understand why a 20 something trixie from Sydney or Melbourne would want to settle in London.

Right!
And you'd know all about 'reality' as exhibited on your "New World Order" thread ....
Okay.

Sydney prides itself on being a New York City theme park. What would it care about London?

The English have always made their own reality, bucks, right though history. It's one of our best and also one of our worst features.
