Ton up for the Belf Empty Ton up for the Belf

Post by beamer Thu 19 Jun 2014, 18:33

Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that the fresh-faced Shermanator made his debut against the West Indies? Hard to get used to him being a veteran... 100th Tests may be like the proverbial London buses at the moment (with perhaps another one to follow this year) but still a reasonably exclusive club to be joining.

It's fair to say he hasn't always been the fans' favourite, particularly on here, and pretty much has always been the selectors' favourite... but we have to give him some credit for more recent achievements, his Ashes-winning performance of last summer and his three-figure averaging year of 2011. Will we ever be convinced of his place among England legends, probably not, but an average of 45 over 100 Tests isn't too shabby. Someone's due a big one on a milestone appearance so can he deliver?

aye...fantastic achievement....and agree IRB has been a much maligned and joked about player (inc by me)...his current career average is well ahead of the vast majority of batsmen inc the likes of Kjnr who received similar criticisms as the I Ronald

If only he'd wipe the permanent "curled lip" snarl off his face.

-king micro-balled twatcake.

His 100th Test has been a classic Bellathon: pleasing but insubstantial 50 in the first innings when England were on top, nowhere to be seen in the midst of a batting collapse in the second.

And he's dropped a catch too.

TBF - he's an excellent fielder with a great pair of hands.

At short leg.

Everywhere else he's a bit 50:50.

Anywhere in front of the wicket, I'd say. He's probably 70:30 behind.

Let's agree to meet in the middle. 60:40 and you've got yourself a deal.

As long as you agree that he's great as a point, silly point, short midwicket, square leg and short extra cover.
