I love cats. They're great creatures. Just been chilling with some random in my garden.

Re: World Cat Day
We have always had cats: although I don't actually think possible to "own" cats - as someone once said, dogs have owners - cats have staff.

Re: World Cat Day
Aye Basil.
We had 3 Burmese cats for 17-18 years until about 10 years ago ... they believed they were human, ran the house but were incredibly affectionate; they were a huge part of our family. Inevitably they all ran out of steam at around the same time, within 2 years of one another. Since we've moved, we haven't had the heart to 'replace' them partly of course as they could never be replaced, but also because we now live on a main road, so it would be unreasonable to risk their (nine) lives by bringing them into ours. Not having pets here has been a less than totally happy compromise.

Re: World Cat Day
Have to admit to being far more a dog person myself.
Having been brought up on a farm with both, I found the cats to be all but feral, and the dogs much more sociable - I did a lot of ratting with Jack Russels and Ormskirk Heelers.
As a keen gardener I hate the way so many of my neighbours cats crap anywhere but their own garden - but my Staffordshire Terrier means they tend to steer clear of mine ........

Just remember, Mr K, tolerating the dog is a fair trade for a trip to the UK in 2015.

I'm working on that.
ATM Mrs K is angling for a second dog. I'm trying to put forward the case that if I can go I won't try to drown the current one.
