Does anyone else find it extraordinary that Australia would pick a guy in their Ashes squad who hasn't played a first class game for two years?

Now he's a big chance to play the second test at Lord's. Australia's selectors will have no excuse at all if he breaks down in that test.

I was shocked that James Pattinson wasn't picked in the original squad. Behrendorff from WA also probably deserved a spot. Or is he injured?

Pattinson was injured at the time of selection, Behrendorff was still recovering from an injury, Bird likewise.
