Agree a good appointment....see Lardy, of course I think there are many good people in WA....
Minister for Aboriginal Health is a tough gig...hope he he goes well...there will be a lot of good will and hope invested by Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
Minister Scullion has been ineffective on his best days and a disaster on his worst days.
Having creepy Alan Tudge around has not helped.

Scullion is an example of a reasonable bloke without a clue. His wife is gold plated bitch.

haven't had the apparently dubious pleasure of meeting Mrs S. And yep Scullion struck me as a reasonable enough bloke who was out of his depth.

All the papers are saying Bernardi is going to leave the Liberal Party tomorrow.

And a senior class senator to boot. I think him trying to claim the moral high ground on anything after this will just look silly. He was never going to be elected in SA as an independent.

Christensen might follow along with the girl in the neighbouring electorate seeing as the defence department has just farked them over right royally.
Nice to claim some moral justification instead of naked self interest.

Bernardi commits political suicide.
Few express any regret.

Maybe. The Libs might be so pleased to see him go that they pay for his ticket. Total qunt. Both major parties have their millstones, and he's one of the biggest n either side.

Won't make a lot of difference. Turnbull is dead in the water anyway.

Aye. There are many on the looney toon right eg
the Democracy hjelmnazi guy from SA, Hansonistas, Hinch
There others outside Parliament like shooters and fishers that are often funded by one or two well heeled far right types. There are numerous crazed dead eyed Christian groups and uber nationalist types who run for parliament and swap preferences. All these groups shout woe is us and then generally find there are particular groups who are responsible for all our problems.

If the conservative right go with Bernardi then Mehcolm might get a marriage equality vote up ...although he'd somehow manage to phark it up

Do you mean electorally or within the Libs.
Trumbles will survive a MM coup. The MMs public support, near rock bottom by the time he was axed, has found new depths as his lunar right views and values have been exposed without the pressures of leadership. Former outer circle supporters of the MM have given up on him and just wish he'd take a plum job somewhere.
Unless the economy goes belly-up or we have gone into another ludicrous war, I cannot see Trumbles losing the next fed election. The ALP is woeful and Shortpants is unelectable.

If Trump can get elected there is no such thing as 'unelectable'.

Trumbles is by far the best going in Oz.
Shortpants is the worst labour leader since Latham.

I can't believe it didn't happen last year. Shortarse must have some killer dirt on both Albo and the Pleb to avoid being usurped.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
the reasons are Shortpants was able to sell the election loss as a win and the ALP's system for appointing the leader.
