Formula One Season 2016

Given the odd (and aren't they all?) threads/posts on car racing, I am confused why there are not threads on badminton, synchronised swimming and 3 day eventing.

To be fair, we even have one for tennis, and that's the shittest of the racquet sports (although squash and badminton are actually pretty decent).

There are but three sports. Motor racing, mountaineering and bullfighting. The rest are merely games.

Sealed in the next race. Vettel made a few very costly mistakes towards the second half. Singapore being particularly silly.

But a tight title race with Ferrari ****** up is basically the perfect result for everyone.

Whatever you think of Hamilton as a person, and of the modern day sport of F1, he has to be in the top five of all time now, at least.

He may not be as ruthlessly efficient as Schumacher was, or have quite the raw speed of Senna or the smooth calculating style of Prost, but as an all-round package he would be up there with any of them.

Fangio and Jim Clark would still be well ahead of him. Maybe Ascari too.

Top 10 but not top 5.

I did not claim to have made an exhaustive list! Just enough to comfortably edge Hamilton out of any putative top 5.

Even among the current lot, I'd have Alonso at the top of the list.

But Hamilton this season has been better than Vettel.

Better equipment can make muppets appear better than gurus ...

Alonso is consistently rated higher than either Hamilton or Vettel in polls of drivers, and is usually mentioned in the top 10.
