He was pressured into the review by the crowd reaction. Pissweak stuff particularly because they got it wrong.

Just watched the replay. Owens awarded the try. As he walked back he told the player to hold the conversion as he had a TMO call to check. The decision was made by the TMO. Having sold that , Veldsman is not particularly highly regarded in SA.

Re: Rugby Championship 2016
It was a crap decision as the AB player was well behind the ball carrier. A converted try at that stage would have put Aust in front. Gutless effort by the ref not to stay with his initial decision.
Re: Rugby Championship 2016
Personally I think it was a poor decision but if we want to use technology we must except the results. It makes sense for the referee to go with the TMO same as in cricket.

Too many Pte school Yarps?
There is a certain bar in Padova that will be rocking and rolling. The red will be flowing, the olives glistening, the bread fragrant and the prosciutto and cheese will be plentiful.

I remember fierce debates amongst old boys about the value of the contribution of their various alma m's to the Qld state side. I didn't think it was as relevant today.

Wales v South Africa on Saturday, Taips, Red.
Simply our best chance to beat the Boks at their most vulnerable in years.
No matter, we'll still find a way to lose.

Diabolical stuff as usual. People seem very satisfied when we can beat Argentina. Great, Los Puma's are on the up. But I'll only be satisfied with the big three - Aus, SAF & NZ. It's really the only right of passage to gloat if you haven't made any WC impact.
England genuinely looking scary under Eddie Jones.

With Halfpenny, Liam Williams & George North - as long as they get enough of the ball, out of the crusher that is always the South African pack, and channelled - you should have reasonable hopes.
Or ol' bullet-head bullneck Jamie could take the Boks on at their own game.

Smerkles the Boks are in total disarray under a clueless coach.
Unfortunately for you the great Welsh team of a few years ago is also in decline but are probably still favourites for this game.

Don't worry Smerkle. I can still remember when Wales were force to be reckoned with when they had the likes of Price, Windsor, Faulkner, Gareth Davies, JJ & JPR Williams. It was magic to see those guys in action.

Would that be Gerald Davies or Gareth Edwards? Not sure all of those named would be in the same team and might also throw in Phil Bennett, Barry John and Mervyn Davies.

Oops..that would be Gareth Edwards. Going back over 30 years dims the memory a bit. Gareth Davies plays in the current side.

Re: Rugby Championship 2016
A pretty standard win over a very poor South African side. "This is the worst South African team I've ever seen" - Brian Moore, 2016.
Nevertheless, I'll take that.
Hope South Africa return to their best and Wales make some genuine impact on the world stage in the next few years.
