Apparently* the woman who abused Betts and was shamed by the crowd has been charged by the Wallopers.

Interesting discussions about whether the fascist determination to rip up 18c, Hanson racist jibes and shock jock jingoists like Hadley and Jones has 'licensed' people to racially abuse others.

Interesting? In what sense? Are such events becoming more common? Are folk less likely to be charged?

There were morons before the 18c debate, there will still be morons after the 18c debate regardless of its outcome, morons will always indulge in moronic abuse.

Most sports events (or at least major ones) are covered by legislation governing behaviour at the event. Contravening any number of restrictions is an offence and then there's normally a catch all clause referring to conditions of entry/ticket issue. This sort of stuff has been around since "siddee 00".

It would seem you may be able to restrict freedom of speech at major sports events.

The way some folk trot out 'fredumbovspeach' like it's the only legal concept that matters, prob because it's the only one that ever gets mentioned on the 6.30 shows, is getting to the point of self-parody.

First few rounds always throw up some surprises. Gold Coast and Freo aren't as bad as they looked after two rounds, and I can't believe that Richmond are as good as they appear after 4 rounds. Adelaide, yes.

the tiggers' midfield has improved but they have a few too many spuds - eg Grigg and Houli - to be a contender.

Port are also playing well.
