Re: Islam - what is it all about?
Going back to my original question on this thread:
Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) On Easter Sunday, a crisp spring day, some of the city's Christian population mingled with their Muslim neighbors, celebrating in a neighborhood park -- taking their kids on rides or pushing them on swings. Then, the sound of tragedy.
Without warning, a blast tore through the park, killing indiscriminately.
Because of the innocent setting, an unusually high number of those injured were women and children. But the attack, claimed by a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban, intentionally targeted Christians, the perpetrators say.
The suicide blast, in the eastern Pakistan city of Lahore, killed at least 69 people, a local government spokesman told CNN.
More than 341 others were injured, according to Punjab government spokesperson Jehangir Awan.
It comes at a difficult time for Pakistan's Christians, some of whom were in the city's Gulshan Iqbal Park to celebrate the holiday Sunday evening, only to see their Easter Sunday fragment into terror and chaos.
The religious group makes up only 2% of the population, and tensions are high between them and a hardline Muslim core which wants to see a strict interpretation of Islamic law take precedence in Pakistan's legal system.

vilkrang wrote:"But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’”
You might be surprised as to who said that, brockley.
I may say it at my company's next annual corporate strategy meeting.

Back to my original question:
Pakistani woman burns daughter alive
Police official Sheikh Hammad says the killing took place on Wednesday in the eastern city of Lahore.
He says the suspect, Parveen Rafiq, allegedly confessed to tying up her 18-year-old daughter Zeenat Rafiq to a cot and with the help of her son, Ahmar Rafi, poured the oil on the girl and set her ablaze.
Nearly 1000 women are killed each year in so-called "honour killings" in Pakistan for allegedly violating conservative norms on love and marriage.
A schoolteacher was burned alive last week on refusing to marry a man twice her age.

Re: Islam - what is it all about?
Essentially there are parts of the world stuck in the dark ages. It's less about religion though as traditionally Christian nations in the West used to practice similar rituals in the dark ages.
The Old Testament is just as barbaric as the Koran and a few hundred years ago there were similar unspeakable acts being carried out across Europe.
Not saying this excuses any of it, but it does seem to be the problem that a lot of people are a few hundred years behind the West.

Islam is not a religion, its a repressive, misogynistic & malignant death cult.

Quite. If anyone followed the Old Testament to the letter then they would be just as barbaric as the Islamic religious fanatical extremists.

Banning does not work. Tho I would remove all their tax benefits and stop govts subsidising them.

Re: Islam - what is it all about?
I cut & pasted this comment from an English based news site. Any of our London based forummers care to comment?
Sadiq Khan, the new Muslim Mayor of London, has declared that pictures of scantily-clad female models will be banned from ads on public transportation, ushering in some of the most fundamentalist Islamic censorship policies in the Western world. (Hey, you Londoners voted in a Muslim for mayor, what did you think you were going to get?)

Big Dog - let me postulate something:
It is suggested that Jo Cox's murderer has, in the past, had connections with some what some people might call 'unsavoury' right-wing organisations, although nothing is yet proven.
Wind the clock forward a bit, suppose he is found guilty of murder and suppose that links to extreme right-wing groups are shown to be true. Would it be fair to demonise every supporter of such organisations because of the actions of one individual?
