Abbott and Cook are different cases. The latter is a middling player at best. To me snorkel could have gone earlier and given the SAMM a few more tests.

Seems like there's a potential crisis brewing, with Russouw also rumoured to be heading to England permanently. Might open some floodgates with disenchanted Saffie players trying to get a county deal inked in before Brexit.

Seems the desire to move almost exclusively affects the white players.

It would be good to see that banned for racist selection policies. If consistency prevailed, this would happen.

The only sporting organization that applies sanctions for Governmental interference is FIFA.

Meh. So what's the problem? SA must be sick of players hotfooting it to pomgolia.

Rilee R. has gone too. He should have been in the team ahead of Duminy and Bavuma. Can't blame him; his skin was the wrong hue.

Duminy and Bavuma were contributors to the series in Oz .
Ten years from now, SA may dominate cricket., player participation will be at record levels and fan numbers will be huge.

Don't think for a minute it's good for the English game either. For every Kolpak player played, there's a place denied to an England-qualified player.

That will require a turnaround. It all seems to be going the other way at present - see your own comments on SA crowd numbers recently.

He is, but when your country's selection policy is based around skin colour, what can he do? The rapacious counties don't help.

Re: S Africa asks players to stay.
Before quotas are considered
If the Saffs are all fit then Abbott is probably 5th fast bowler
Steyn Philander Morkel Rabada and Abbott
Hoping that 2 of them are injured doesnt give much job security
add in quotas and he has to hope the injured players are steyn and morkel

du Plessis should know given he made a similar decision in the past.
Unfortunate that Abbott, especially, is gone. Boy did Moonda shoot off prematurely again.

I agree with him being angry about this, because I eliminate candidates for jobs in respect of this type of sloppiness, but the coach and his selection policies are part of the problem.
