Unfortunate that Abbott, especially, is gone. Boy did Moonda shoot off prematurely again.

She is the worst cricket writer in SA.

Correction to a "article" she wrote yesterday for cricinfo.

GMT 1420 The story earlier said South Africa had never beaten Australia in a home Test series, but they did so twice before readmission, in 1966-67 and 1969-70.

Part of Domingo's reaction to Rossouw's email announcing he was kolpaking it off to Hampshire

I agree with him being angry about this, because I eliminate candidates for jobs in respect of this type of sloppiness, but the coach and his selection policies are part of the problem.

Doubt the coach has much influence on the selections.

Time the ICC stepped in to close the door on this, to protect both South African AND English cricket.

She's probably so stupid, she believes the numbers on the players' shirts - if you compare them to other nations you have to believe that SA cricket didn't exist prior to readmission.

There was an article in our press suggesting that Morkel might play county cricket and T20 and move here with his Aussie wife Roz Kelly who covers the BBL.

Don't think for a minute it's good for the English game either. For every Kolpak player played, there's a place denied to an England-qualified player.

I beg to differ. A player like Abbott plying his trade in County cricket only helps improve the overall standard of the County game, and if a young English player is good enough, he'll force his way into the side regardless.

There's more awkwardness brewing due to the fact that Bavuma can hardly buy a run and should really be replaced in the side for the third test by de Bruyn.

And what if AB was fit? Who would they drop right at this moment if AB (who obviously can't be left out if fit) was fit for the third test in Joburg and able to take his place in the top six?

I guess they'd drop Duminy, who hasn't been great recently, but HAS been better than Bavuma. It then becomes a case of two POC being split based on who is 'blacker'.

It just stinks all round. Bavuma is clearly kept in the side because of his skin colour, but being the smart, level-headed young man that he is, he KNOWS he's only in the side because of his skin colour, and feels distinctly uncomfortable about it, which certainly wouldn't help him to improve his performances.

Sooner or later it will all blow up big time unless South Africa changes its policies or the ICC punishes them for their policies.

No, the quota is set at 6, which means they would probably drop Cook and move QDK to open.

That would be the same De Bruyn who couldn't get in the Titans team last season as their quota balance was wrong and had to move to Free State to get a game?

Henry, I remember the "good" old days of the 70s' and 80's when the likes of Richards (both of them), Greenidge, Roberts, etc, etc all plied their trade in the county game for whole seasons. They were all a class-and-a-half better than any overseas / kolpaker likely to be playing in county cricket in 2017. Okay, so the domestic game was worth watching, but take a look at England's performances over the same period - what benefit did these players bring to the table? A. Big. Fat. Zero. Take Bob Woolmer - his development was actively hindered by the preponderence of non-England qualified players.

Overseas players are one thing, but Kolpakers are gumming up the works.
