You were going great guns early but drifted off-course after 'Stone'.
To be fair, I didn't know he was going to have 140,000 Covid deaths as cover for this.

Roger aint on his Pat Malone, mind. In another novel response to C19, half the cons in San Quentin have been de-clinked (under what conditions if any unknown) because the joint has about 70% infection rate.
Lauranorda rants I generally leave to others, but...how in the flying hell did they think this would play out remotely well?????

The Seppos are high on arrogance and low on IQ.
I am flabbergasted by their belief that their constitutional rights to liberty are far more important than wearing a mask and social distancing for the sake of health. Dumb farkers.

I think when countries start opening up more, being on the same restriction list as some third world basket cases might be a reality check. Visiting America is the only time I bother with insurance.

Why are you flabbergasted? The evidence for national stupidity is right there in their leadership, their blind subservience to the NRA, and every national utterance.

I have spent a bit of time in the States. Like Qmy I always pay full weight insurance when there, tho their health system is shyte and I would not want to end up in a lot of their hospitals.
I am always careful where I go.
I have no interest in going to the Mid Western or Southern States, beyond Louisiana (where I could happily live).
Otherwise I love the north east and California. Have been lucky to have met heaps of young and older Seppos who I really like.

If they re-elect Farty they’ll prove it once and for all. And as I expected, the Democrats have picked an opponent who is old, white, male, not particularly inspiring and with plenty of baggage of his own.Basil wrote:So, we're agreed: yanks are as thick as pig shit.

Yeah problem is biden was best of a bad lot, though they could have thrown dice on a younger candidate who could appeal to the base and at least have a better chance of inspiring the centre. I think they're hoping CV has cost him the election already.

They really don't help themselves do they?
House speaker Nancy Pelosi recently ordered the taking down of 4 portraits of previous speakers from the corridor outside the chamber. They were all men who had served in the Confederacy during the Civil war.
It's an unequivocal statement against racialism - no question. However, many people - including ordinary Democrat voters - aren't happy that she didn't order the removal of the portrait of Robert C Byrd. In the 1940's Byrd recruited 150 members to form a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan before being unanimously voted Exalted Cyclops. In a letter to Senator Theodore G Bilbo he wrote ...
"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
I don't like Trump, he's an ignorant, blustering fool - but don't bet the farm on him losing in November when his opponents are pulling stunts like the one above.

That's poor, but if you have to go back 80 years to find it ...

Oh hypocrisy has no time limit lardy - after all Pelosi is removing portraits going back far more than 80 years.
Selective outrage is not outrage at all - it's no more than posturing.

Just list the bad shit, modern perceptions next to the if any real achievements. Shit when did we get rid of the white Australia policy and how many living people served in parlients whilst it was in force.

I've got a feeling that HRC will go there first Horrie.
Although she's not actually on trial, she's testifying in court soon regarding her deleted e-mails.
Wonder if the contents of Anthony Wiener's laptop will become public ....

Hmmn. That will be interesting. Even the Republicans have failed to vomit up an excrescence like Wiener. Whatever turgid crap HRC wrote I expect there will be embarrassing if not illegal stuff. The perjury trap will be set.

Just what the fark is in the cordial at Trump's RNC??
Jnr was on cocaine, his missus shouted her way through her rant, and no-one has a clue what Tiffany was talking about.

This is a funny story I found on Politico.
The story is how the Trump re-election campaign used images of a jet fighter and three boots on the ground soldiers.
The jet fighter in the pic was a Russian MIG and the three soldiers were Russkies. What a dumbarse country. What an extraordinary dumbarse President.

No secret the international reputation of the USA under Trump has suffered a severe drop since the Turkey was elected.
Axios is a really snappy site on politics, economics and technology. Its articles are crisp and to the point.
Here they report on Pew's research into the international standing of the USA on a year to basis.

Re: *The United States Presidential Election * (III)
Trump has really stepped up the rants about election rigging. No doubt if he loses, irrespective of the margin he will go to the Supreme Court.
He may simply refuse to move. I think his end game is to get immunity for himself, family and a couple of others not just against Federal but State prosecutions. I really doubt he would happily contemplate gaol time.
States like New York will come under enormous pressure to drop cases and investigations.
I also expect he will demand protection against a vast armada of civil suits against him.
If gets all this he'd go.
Meanwhile, yesterday I read a couple of essays and survey results on authoritarian attitudes in the US. Rusted ons were shock shock - white blokes.
Authoritarian folks were of course more likely to have been Trumpites in 2016.
Will find and post if anyone is interested.
