Ashley Giles though. FFS. And who the feck is James Whitaker?
I'd have Simon Hughes. That man knows his sh*t.

Who is he then?
Snort. 143 wickets at 40.60.
"Ashley Giles will be able to bring a new perspective to the panel and a keen understanding of what it takes to succeed," said Morris.

From Cricinfo
Whitaker, who played one Test for England during the 1986-87 Ashes, represented Leicestershire throughout his first-class career, and went on to coach them until 2005. Recent and active players were specifically encouraged to apply for this role in a bid to bring a new perspective to England's deliberations, and among the notable names who missed out were Sussex's captain, Chris Adams, and Warwickshire's Dougie Brown.

I think Whitaker scored a ton (108?) in a tour game vs the Sozzies to get his Test ...

YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tangoman - fook off. See nowt wrong with Whitaker. Knows the county game. Giles was always going to get the job, he's way too good at giving head. Wonder if he spent a long time hanging round the glory hole...

Re: Graveney Axed!
No problem with Whitaker at all really considering options available. Not convinced by Dusty though tbh.
LLL, Whitaker was one of the better county players during his career - he only stopped playing in 1999 - jesarse how young are you?

Re: Graveney Axed!
James Whitaker has spent the past few years - according to the Beeb - out of cricket, "working in his family's chocolate business".
Ideal preparation for picking the England team, then. He knows a Walnut Whip when he sees one.
Graveney 'out' (moved to a different position within the ECB, so his orange fingers are still all over English cricket), is a nice change.
Miller 'in' is hardly any change at all. Shuffling deck-chairs on the Titanic.
Underwhelming.
As for Giles - I've not seen his wife, but I'd guess she's stunning (and probably a sex-addict) as he is by far and away the luckiest bastard in the world.
Talk about a mediocre appointment. Where's my exasperatedly-throw-hands-in-the-air-and-stomp-off emoticon?

Re: Graveney Axed!
At least Vaughan now has his buddy Giles as a selector.

There are just not enough pics of Ashley Giles on this forum.
So does everyone else feel as confident as me that this guy is now on our selectors panel?
