England still ahead as Aust will need to bat last on a turning pitch. And we know how that always turns out.

And apparently* the last time Marsh ended the day 44* in a Test he was out without scoring the next morning.

Next 15 overs up to the new ball should be pretty easy going for the Aussies. Bowling looks very flat.

50 up for Marsh.

The f*ck was that? What a miserable dismissal. No wonder he gets dropped every other game.

Stinky Bog does it again. Charnel Nein duffers still talking him up.

Sorry Lardy, Brittle's miss off Vince was woeful. He was not in position. Your claims about Weed are simply that - claims. .Most park keepers would have swallowed that chance, nine times out of ten.

Sure the short pitched bowling will dry up the scoring, but as for getting the Batsmen out... scratch

Brittle gawn. Well done on exceeding expectation in making double figures. Just as well his top class keeping kept us in this match.

Just checked - it was 11.

We could do with those now.

When the bnlg usurps Boof, I doubt either Marsh will get a look in.

Between them Stinky Bog and Mug have discredited Boof.

A total of 26 runs, no? That is usually Wade's contribution in byes, to be fair.

Brittle has made more KFC appearances than first class tons.

I am no fan of Weeds but Brittles rep as a gloveman is overrated... He was often preferred to other keepers by the Twosie selectors.

Won't disagree with that. Don't know about the domestic scene, but Paine did seem a bit rushed from an outsider's perspective. I just don't see him as a downgrade on Wade (whose batting imo is overrated). He's also not as much of a twat.

What was wrong with Nevill?

Must be time for a rain dance!

So how to assess the Oz batting?

Gcspoc- does what he does. Reliable as a busted phone unless batting on roads
Mrs R. One knock, forgive.
Uber K. Believes the crap he can't bat against spin
SS. Doing well.
The Sneak. Looked ok despite being out of form. Technique failed.
Stinky Bog. The fifty sill keep him in unless we get lucky and he is injured.
Brittle. Looked shaky and no surprise when he got out.
Koo. Knocked a Zack but seemed uninterested in hanging about.

In the post Gilchrist era, Nevill is seen as too bland and not enough with the bat. Wade in his first incarnation wasn't too bad with the bat so they gave him enough go but this time his keeping was still a bit of a liability and he didn't make runs to offset missed chances etc.

Paine might have seemed a safe bet, but the country is crying out for some talented youngster to bang down the door.

England had the better of the session. Australia can still get near parity but is stagnant at the crease and having to bat last puts the visitors in the ascendancy.
