I see the Aussies came back from 2-0 down against Brazil in the Chicks World Cup last night.

Meanwhile, the Man U v Chelsea opening round match at Old Trafford coincides nicely with my trip to the UK for the Lords Test.

Great effort by the girls.

First time in 10 group stage matches that Brazil have been scored against. Not a bad effort that.
The win was even more remarkable given the makeshift defence they went into the game with.

Yeah, the defence looks the weak link.

Well, well. Australia qualifies for the 2022 World Cup. Peru out.

Watched this after the cricket finished and I had watched 1 or 2 episodes of Treme (still a great series).

To be honest Oz is not great at Soccer. However Peru (and UAE last week) are not flash either. I rarely watch Soccer nowadays but even a log like me could tell the game was lacklustre.

Oz has now qualified for 5 WC's in a row. Even more remarkable is in that period a famous Oz rules footy team has not won a final. (for our English and Indian mates, 8 teams qualify for our Finals)

So one of the real upsides of WC qualification has been the torture poured on fans of the accursed Oz Rules Club - Essendon. Happily AFAIK no FB poster barracks for that miserable Club
