Re: England v India, 1st Test, Edgbaston, 1-5 August, 2018
Wouldn't have minded an India win to be honest Furri, would have been amazing to watch a one wicket win and would have set the series up nicely. I hope India come back in to it but on previous tours they've lost a test and then imploded. They would have been battered in this test if we'd taken the Kohli catches so I just hope it becomes a competitive series as I think for the series it might have been better for India to win it.furriner wrote:Well done England. I shoved £100 on India before the tests began and i feel they'll edge us still. Their batsmen around Kohli won't all fail together too often and i sense it's still gonna be tough for us to remove their main man and the top order in general. Timeltell.

An unlikely win by England. I see Instant Karma was fined again for giving Malan a sendoff.

So he got in before the selectors.

Good to see competitive test matches and ball dominating bat.

Test cricket as it should be, a fitting game for England’s 1000th Test. The quality was mixed, with bat and in the field particularly, but neither side fell away completely when behind the game as so often tends to happen these days. Hopefully this sets the tone for the rest of the series to come.
For England the questions are how to replace Stokes, and whether to reshape the top order again with Malan most under pressure. Moeen could replace either, then the remaining choice is fourth seamer or extra batsman (or someone who does a bit of each!)

This sort of Test, where ball dominates bat to a large extent, is a far better spectacle (at least to the neutral) than boring batathons.

Stokes is being replaced by Woakes. Malan has also been dropped for the 2nd test.

'dropped' seems apt.

That's a big loss to England. Stokes was great with the ball in both innings.
