Re: England v India, 1st Test, Edgbaston, 1-5 August, 2018
Looks very much like it. Might as well have a slog and see if we can set them something close to 200. But we’ve effectively got two number 11s now in Broad and Anderson (how much longer can we afford to carry them both from a batting point of view?) and it could be effectively over in half an hour after lunch.
As usual, it’s a case of lose the match and the momentum in the series in one session. It’s clearly not an easy pitch to bat on but the technique and application just hasn’t been there. I maintain that if we had just gone for all out one-day mode we would have got more runs though! This half-way house gets you nowhere.

Jayzus. Been watching a movie and didn't expect to find that Instant has torn the Poms a new poo-poo hole.
3 wickets in one over???!!!! Somebody swab him!!!
England plummeting to defeat.

Malan has got out playing a defensive shot more often than anyone else in Test cricket since he came into the side. Alongside the drops, and barely averaging 20 at home, I think his run in the side is over.

How absolutely vital is the 92 that Kohli put on with Instant & Yadav for the last 2 wickets yesterday looking??
A double failure by the 2 tailenders would now see England over 200 in front.
As it is, they are struggling to scratch up a 120 lead.

Best Edgbaston test since 2005 I reckon. Still 50/50.

Yeah I think he will get them over the line. First half hour or even twenty minutes are crucial tomorrow, if England don't get a wicket then India should get there comfortably.

Well you only have to look at our batting.

The Raisin is having a blinder.
Still, E-Coli looks like being the difference.
Dawid sure is a good slipper, ay??

I'd be disappointed for a slip catcher to drop 3 regulation catches in a series let alone one match! Will have cost us the match if we don't win from here. Could have been a thrashing if he had taken Kohli when he was on 21.skully wrote:

Record for? Dropped catches in an innings/Test??
No records are kept but here's an excellent article on dropped catches in Tests by our old mate Zeddy.

5 in an innings by 11 players, the latest being Steve Smith in March 2018 v SAf in Cape Town. 8 in a match the record is held by Rahane v Lanka in Galle in 2015,
Jimmeh gets Karthik early. Poms on top.
